Probably because he'll be thinking about Brandon Moore the whole time. I'm very happy we're able to keep Moore, this is a good contract for the team and him.
Holy shit.... this has been an awesome 1st day for us. My gut now tells me WR in the 1st round and probably safety in the 2nd......
I understand that's why it's not a simple restructuring, but this deal could have happened yesterday. Moore certainly caved in on free agency possibilities very quickly - not every free agent contract gets signed on the first day, but he seems to have decided very quickly that the grass wasn't greener on the other side of the fence.
Perhaps they finally learned something from both the Jenkins and the McKenzie affairs..Keep the line intact and actually make the running game easier to execute. Absolute Genius!!
Yeah, I think he realized he wasn't going to get a bigger contract from anyone else. Maybe Tannenbaum told his agent that the offer is on the table and if he doesn't accept it we are moving on to someone else. All I know is that I think Moore is a better all around player then the Steelers guard. It's great to keep the same line intact.
Guys, while i'm happy about this, this isn't a good job by Tanny, its him admitting a mistake and paying for it. He will not cost 4 million a year (plus bonus pro-ration) whereas we could have restructured him (it was 100% Tanny's choice to do so he didn't need Moore's permission) and he would have cost us 2.6 million per year.
No, he is not making less money. He is infact making a whole lot of more money. He had a roster bonuse of $6/7 mil due this yr. His base was very very low, I think even less than a mil. He was going to make 7 mil this yr and I think about 1.5 mil next yr. So in the next 4 yrs, he was going to make around $12mil. Now he is guaranteed to get $10mil even if he stays one more yr. But he'll be making a total of $16 mil. I doubt if we dump him during this contract. Its not very pricey. He is a good guard. I hope he stays here for the next 4 yrs as $4 mil a yr for a solid guard is probably below avg in the NFL.
