Jones really lit in to Brett. I don't blame him.

I don't get the dislike for Jones.

He's a frustrating placeholder for success on the Jets. Had a great season last year but he's too old to repeat it and won't be around when the Jets are next good enough to take advantage of the kind of year he had.

And he's not Curtis Martin, that part is important too. Basically Jones is the perfect archetypal Jet vet coming off of a career year: it was great but it didn't matter and in five years we'll all have forgotten he ever played for the team.

We can do this for like another 30 years and then I'll be dead without ever having actually seen the Jets win a Super Bowl. Frustrating.

Agreed...it would be nice to eventually see us grab a young potenial superstar RB in the draft one of these years. I love Leon but he's never gonna get 25-30 carries a week.

Here are the things the Jets have not had since 1976:

    1. A star QB actually drafted by the organization.

    2. A star RB actually drafted by the organization. Freeman McNeil is closest and injuries kept him down. Riggins left before he became a star.

    3. A star WR actually drafted by the organization. Al Toon and Keyshawn Johnson are the closest and neither of them was a game-breaker.

    4. A star TE actually drafted by the organization.

The Jets have not drafted an offensive superstar since Joe Namath. That's way too long to go without having a big difference maker come out of the draft on that side of the ball.

He is a good teammate and an honest player on the field. He just isn't very talented. It is not his fault. And I don't care if he broke a tackle ONCE IN A WHILE. He seemd to go down from nudges a lot of the time. He was not elusive, is not a good pass receiver, and third and one was not exactly his forte.

For the record, #4 is about to be obliterated (Heard of the kid named Keller?) #1 through #3, I concur.

It's easily one of the greatest mysteries in the known, observable universe.

Yup when it comes down the failures the jets have had since winning the super bowl are because they have been crap on draft day.
