Peter King says Bart Scott will most likely sign to the Jets. Let's hope for a miracle, because he's never right about anything
just came across this Minutes into free agency, Scott praises Jets staff February 27, 2009 12:59 AM Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Graham About a half hour after he went up for bids, coveted linebacker Bart Scott spoke of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan in glowing terms. Scott Echoes from the 12 chimes of midnight barely had died out when Scott was a guest on "SportsCenter" early Friday morning to discuss his situation. He and the Baltimore Ravens failed to reach terms, sending Scott to the open market. He's expected to meet with the Jets later Friday. Ryan was his defensive coordinator in Baltimore. The Jets' defensive coordinator, Mike Pettine, was Scott's position coach in Baltimore. "I got a special place in my heart for those guys because they are the guys that gave me the chance and taught me how to play defense," Scott told ESPN via phone. "I was the happiest man in the world when he got the job because I felt it was long overdue. "We always have a great time with Rex and the guys that helped kind of mature me from undrafted to what I am now. So they're just as much a part of my success as I am." Scott is vising with the Jets today, so it seems that he will at least HEAR us out. After that, he may sign he may let the Ravens match, he may call Miami, who really knows?
Im optimistic, but we need to be cautious here. We dont want to be used in driving up Scott's price so he can go back to Bal
How great is this. I love this time of they year, we are so lucky to have a owner/gm that wants to win and spend. Look at all the teams like Tampa that have all this cap $ and does not spend. That plus our Gm spends wisely, not like the Resdkins. With our new coach who brings a different persepctive then Mangini who was to much on the same page as Tannenbaum, I think we are in great hands.
Unconfirmed reports Scott is in NJ and is going to sign with the Jets today per WFAN - Boomer and Carton
Haha the Redskins. They went on another spending spree last night. They signed D.Hall and Haynesworth to ridiculous contracts
Yeah, I'm really glad our owner couldn't be bothered to postpone his vacation to speak to the best available coach this off-season. (Even if you don't like Cowher, it's still an embarrassment.)
I hate it, winnings teams don't go on spending sprees every year. I liked what we did last year in the OFFSEASON but I thought that was a 1 time thing. We are turning into the redskins.
New Head coach = New Turnover and Spending spree if you want to call it that... I don't... Even last year was part of the final switch to 3-4 and a lot of swaps - Vilma for Pace, Jenkins for Drob.. And even Farve wasn't a long term cap crushing deal as I said at the time and as we see now... There's "Spending Sprees" and then there's Spending sprees... I think what the Jets are doing makes complete sense and I do love it - Rex has to get his guy sin here - Scott and Leonhard would help this defense in a big way.
The Favre moved cost us our QB though. I think we have made better moves than the Skins over the years but we are still throwing money around and you don't build through FA. 1 year is ok to splurge I guess but now it is becoming year after year.
I remember when Jets fans used to bitch about NOT doing anything in Free Agency. Just goes to show you can't please everybody......
newsflash, we aren't in a rebuilding year. you don't think this team is not just a few moves away from a serious contender?
Dude, drop that bullshit already. Woody is spending money hand over fist to try to make this team better. He realized that mangina had no passion so he threw his ass out and got a firey guy in here...im more than happy with Woody....and in case you didnt notice, Cowher isnt going to be coaching this year...which is what cowhers agent told everyone
