The more the Cowboys say they aren't interested the more likely I think it is you see Rex in a Jet uniform. Especially with Tanny's constant preaching of wanting to get players that set the tone and change the culture of the team so that when they are gone the legacy continues. I don't know how he can say that with a straight face when talking about Favre though.

Adam Schefter of NFL network was just on WFAN with Joe and Kim and suggested the Jets might be looking at Lewis for 3 years with 25 million guaranteed.
He also said that if Lewis signs with the Ravens that Scott is a good possibility for the Jets. But that the two will split up.

Ughh....That's a high price to pay even if it is Ray Lewis...

When Schefter speaks, you listen. That's a pretty big contract with 25 million guaranteed the actual deal itself must be upwards of 32 million..

I would've thought I'd never come to this but I'm gonna have to start pulling for ol' Jerry Jones to pull this one out.

C'mon Jerry Jones. If you can't outbid the New York Jets you're a clown of an owner. Just pull the trigger on Lewis. Don't even think about it. Just do it.

you wanna know what that contract reminds me of? Vernon Gholston. what did he get 21 guaranteed, and 32 overall over 5? yeah, sounds similar. And mark my words, Lewis would be just as big a bust here.

Sure lewis might be solid for one year. but then he will suck balls and we will still owe him over 10 million a year. like i said previously, Brett Favre taught the Jets a lesson, if they go out and sign Ray Lewis, they clearly didnt learn it.

^I like that last line. I think I'm gonna include it in my sig for the day.

Ray Lewis is a hell of a player, but so against him coming here.

$25 mill is a lot to tie up in a player who may start to decline dramatically any time now. Lewis could beat the odds and remain a productive player for the full term of that contract, but what if he's good in '09, okay in 2010 and sucks/retires in 2011? That's a lot of money to have tied up in a borderline player.

Saying he will be 34 at the start of the season doesn't sound too bad. Saying he will be 36 is frightening for a linebacker, so his shelf life has to be a major concern. And how much impact can he have on the mentality of the club if he's only here for two years, or if he sticks around but is clearly slipping? When Ronnie Lott was on the decline the young Jets players stopped listening to him in the lockerroom because he wasn't doing it on the field.

I would much prefer a younger player. I don't think you build winners by adding old players and i think the history of free agency has taught that fairly consistently.

I'd like to get Lewis but that's way too much for a guy at the tail end of his career.

well thank you kind sir. Nice to know at least somebody has some sense on the board these days.

I wont shy away from it, I thought the move for Favre was the right one. I figured he was what we needed, I thought he still had it. Hell if anybody could have beaten Father Time, it was Brett Favre. Well guess what he lost, if Favre couldnt beat father time, Ray Lewis sure as hell can't.

Don't give me this Favre was 38, Lewis is 34 BS. how many elite players have stayed elite after 32? less than a handful. How many were playing on par, until 32 then suddenly they fell off, and not only couldnt play up to their level any more, but were being bypassed by the young guys? Hell look at Mo Lewis, and Marvin Jones. one year they had it, but we figured we had one more year until they needed to bring in young guys to groom. then Bam they both lost it at the same time it was so unexpected, yet expected at the same time. Lewis' decline is coming, it may not come this year, but i garuntee you before the end of year 2, (36 years old) he will have hit it. Do you really wanna be on the hook for 20 million dollars when he can't run from the middle of the field to the LOS before the runningbacks fly by him? I didnt think so.

Wow, that makes less sense than most of your posts...if that is even possible. Is there such a thing as a negative IQ?
