He may be a bit of a malcontent, but he's the best JETS WR since TOOOOOOON. expect to see him in a Dolphins jersey next week.
I loved Coles back in the day but Toon is a god compared to Coles. Keyshawn was light years better than Coles and as much as I hate to admit this since Moss was traded to a team that throws the ball down field he is light years more productive than Coles. Coles was a tough very good WR who's in major decline.
I think Coles would rather die on the field like a warrior with blood coming from his nose and ears. Miami is perfect for him.
Hopefully we can get someone good in the first few rounds of the draft. Hopefully this year we will get a chance to see Stuckey and Clowney make plays in games and not have to hear about what they did in practice and how good they are. Finally we can let our young guys get a shot. Coles was a great tough Jet but Im glad we let him go a year early as opposed to a year too late.
He was a great performer for the Jets but he is on the downside of his career. At 6 mil he clearly isn't worth that price now. Besides after several concussions he is one breath from career ending hit. (see Crebet). Great move by Jets freeing up the money as long as they use it wisely. All of a sudden I see people on this board comparing Pennington/Coles to Manning/Harrison AMAZING!
We kept hearing how great Cotch was under Herm but he never had the balls to play him. Now that were going in a new direction at QB I suspect Clemens and Ratliff both threw a lot more balls to both Coney and Stuckey in practice than to Coles. This may turn out very good for us without an addition in the draft or FA which I suspect we will get.
I wouldn't take anything that came out of Herm's mouth all that seriously. Considering some of the talent (or lack thereof) they brought in during his tenure. Doug Jolley anyone?
In the case of Cotchery, Herm kept telling us he was real good in practice and in fact when Mangini put him in the lineup he was real good. I don't recall Herm talking up Doug Jolley?
I thought Coles could still play. The last game we had he took one over the middle and brought it to the house, typical LC. He was also clutch in the red zone on that fade, but that was kind of a Chad thing, too. He very well may go to Miami, considering they don't have anyone as good as him. One less mirror Chad would need to make chicken salad out of chicken shit down there again. And I had become so proficient at spelling Laveranues, too.
rofl some stupid fan was writing a response to this news on another site. and they were talking about Coles and Chad reuniting and they said chads accuracy will add a couple years to Coles shelf life in the concussion dept. when in fact chad is the cause of a majority of them. its like Coles is jumping aboard the concussion express.
Amen Brutha!!!! You cannot mention Toon and Coles in the same sentence, unless it's this sentence. And Keyshawn?????? If you think Coles is as good as he was, go back and watch the tapes of Keyshawn making Ray Lucas look like a QB. One catch in particular, (I forget the game), Key crossing left to right and without breaking stride grabbing a ball of his shoelaces... I do think that Coles > Moss...but thats because we've had ole noodle arm...
In the case of Cotch, he might end up good. So far I don't think he's shown that he's ready for any neon signs or anything, but he's shown some moves on the YAC and some decent hands. They didn't have to talk up Jolley...they acquired him after he'd been playing for 2-3 seasons.
Coles has been decent or less for his whole career. Nothing spectacular by any stretch of the imagination. Nothing to warrant some of the crap he pulled.
I think Cotch has been a fine No. 2 guy and if we every had a true No. 1 who really required a double team Cotch would be a handfull. The guy has been very productive.
Coles was never a true #1 receiver. Coles is a very good 2nd or 3rd receiver. He can't sustain #1 tho. He has flashes but not consistently. The Jets could/should have kept him and went for Crabtree. Crab is going to be a elite wr barring injury. I think Crabtree will be pro bowl in his rookie year, maybe even ROTY if he goes to the right team. http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1634
Don't worry, I owned all of those, minus Moss. And at training camp, i grabbed a Gholston. We're covered.
Are you basing this off of 1 season alone? I don't recall him doing all that much late in the season. Granted Favre wasn't playing great, but it's not like there weren't opportunities. I just think you can't fully evaluate someone's true talent and value after a single season. Especially a cupcake season.
