We'd have to find some team who thinks Coles is worth 6M. I'd guess not too many do (regardless of what his agent is telling him).

Revis will make Miami regret that signing.

...and spend a week trying to get a 5th for him? I think this was an expediency on the eve of free agency thing.

Dumb....but classy move by Coles if you ask me. He was starting to become annoying, but, he freed up cap space for the Jets. Soon as I read the mutual parting between him and the organization, I thought Miami bound.

Good luck to you Coles, if you're playing outside our Division. If you're playing in our Division, you better suck when you play against us.

Edit: For fuck's sake...can we please sign Moore now?!

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO This also frees up the money to keep B.Moore or to get a big time reciever or draft one or both. The way i see it we are going to keep Moore, get a CB and either a LB or WR in free agency (plus Leonhard which is almost for granted) and build the rest through the draft. Way to go :D

Coles get a lot of heat sometimes on this board but it seems that there was no messy breakup and that both sides handled things with class and there are no hard feelings.

Good job by the Jets and Coles.

I always liked LC. One of my all time favorite Jets. I wish him well. I just dont want to see him go to Miami and not be able to root for him like I have to do with Chad. I wish they both would go to some team in the NFC.

His money is guaranteed. I guess Ryan doesn't want any cancer on the team. Look for Jones to be next if he doesn't shut up.

Maybe with the release of Coles the Jets wont get rid of Brandon Moore.

It said they reached a compromise so maybe Coles is giving up that guruanteed money. They said he was taking a gamble.

I'm not unhappy... his production was slightly better than average... we've been stuck with 2, number 2 WRs since Keyshawn was here... and I was sick of his bitching... now he and Chad can go hold hands on the beach, yay for them.
NOW GET ME A LEGIT #1 WR!!!!! Then, and only then this will be a great move.

Correct me if I'm wrong. The way I read the article, this "comprimise" entails Coles releasing the Jets of the guaranteed $6 million the owed him for 09' and in return the Jets agree to release him from obligation of the last term of his contract so he can test the free agent market?

Just gotta take the $1 mil cap hit for his bonus. His $6 mil salary is gone with the wind.

We also gotta pay $3 mil of our cap for chad this year, meaning we will be paying $4 million towards phin players...ugh!

im no cap expert but doesn't this help our cap? if we traded him wouldn't we have some type of cap penalty? him letting us out of the contract should have saved us some money.

No they don't. That 6 million will still count against the cap. This is all about attitude apparently.

No - the Jets agreed to pay Coles salary for the next two years. They did not pay him in advance.

With Coles giving up the guaranteed payment to become a free agent, the Jets don't owe him his salary this year.
