Great, another figure of $27 if Baker and Moore released. Or $20 mil if Moore is not released. Or $21.5 mil if Baker is released and Moores cap figure is $5.5 mil, as reported on a few websites... Plenty of ORs with the Jets salary cap this yr. Fcuk, why can't the Jets just release some of this info? Im sure the NFLPA and the NFL know exactly where we stand and hence, every other team knows.
I was wondering how Cimini figured the Jets would be at $18 million after all bonuses/other cap hits were figured in. Makes more sense now.
$22m or so under, I guess. I hope we aren't putting ourselves in difficulty for future years with any of these restructures.
I doubt it. Even if there is a cap next season, the restructures make sense for future years. You write a roster bonus (rather than signing bonus) into a guy's contract to ensure he plays as well as the terms of that contract. Once he does, restructuring lessens the impact. In our case, we add a tiny bit to future years, but still leave room for additions later on.
And why is it cleared up because Dave Hutchinson says it's 27? That number is as good as the 15, 18 and 20 million dollar numbers that are also out there. What makes his special?
Because he supposedly has NFL confirmation and because his presumed moves and future hits would match his number up with Jason from nyjetscap. That's pretty good consensus.
Hahaha. And have you seen R&R Express around lately? I recall right at the season's end he said we'd be completely Cap fucked. I haven't seen him since though. The icing on the cake would be if we win Bart Scott over the Dolphins; R&R might go into conniptions.
We were most definitely in cap hell at the end of the season. Things have changed but until I see anybody actually list the players on the team and how much they will make in '09 then these numbers are all pulled out of their asses. This is the only guy who does it and I still think his number is closer to being accurate than any of the others. At least he list something that somebody can dispute, none of these other jokers do anything. http://www.nyjetscap.com/salary.html
Well, i think if they do, its gonna be impact players, not glamour picks, like Favre. Tanny has developed a reputation to get the right guys. Whether it be in the draft or free agency. Kenyon Coleman is a great example. For the money we are paying him, he's far outweighed his contract as far as compatibility in the system. He doesn't get sacks, but he stuffs the run pretty well. I'd love to see an upgrade at the side of the DLine, but can't complain about that pick up in free agency.
I've thought about sending him a PM at finheaven but decided not to bother. When he shows his ugly mug on here again I'll taunt him a bit. That probably won't happen until the Fins win a game and the Jets lose one though.
Again...if you look at the difference between his numbers and Hutch, they reflect Brandon Moore's contract off the books, a discrepancy in that contract number, and the future cap hits that Jason is projecting. Hence why people feel a bit more comfortable about the numbers. If you take Brandon Moore's number out, you get $20 million. Hutch thinks the contract is actually worth $1.5 million more, giving you $21.5 million. Add in the future cap hits that haven't taken place yet, but Jason projects, and you get close to $27 million.
