I'm pretty sure he's joking, mainly because I don't think it's humanly possible to run 40 yards in under 4 seconds.

OK. For anyone who is actually somewhat believing that Alphonso Smith ran a 3.98, WAKE UP! IT WAS A OBVIOUSLY A JOKE! Do you really think that someone could break the combine 40 time record by more than .20 seconds???

The fastest 40 time ever was 4.06, 3.98 is definitely not possible by a football player.

He really wasnt. He would do great and put up all his stats against the weaker unranked teams then his superior Ohio St. squad and against good or great teams he would dissapear like the ghost we see today. His stats and career were misleading and thats why he was the worst player drafted. 1 Solo tackle really proved that 6th overall pick from being a so called "College Great".

Jesus Christ, another hijacked thread turned into a Gholston bashing. But I'll play.

Whether or not you think Gholston had a great/dominant NCAA career doesn't matter. What matters is he put up numbers and is a physical freak as demonstrated in his workouts.

Therefore, the potential is there that he could turn into a beast at this level. Nothing he's done yet has shown this, but who's to really say it won't happen, especially under Rex?

I don't really consider FOURTHANDLONG to be a poster. More like a bot that can never stray from one subject or say anything interesting or thought-provoking.

Unfortunately I bring the ugly truth and not a fantasy land approach to rooting for the Jets. I used Gholston as an example of why not to get to excited about Combine numbers. The fact that he could be one of our biggest bust of all time that cost us a #6 because of Combine numbers is an ugly truth and a good reason not to get giddy over what 40 time a Wr ran this week.

    What's unfortunate is this:

You hijacked this ALPHONSO SMITH thread and turned it into something completely different.

Do everyone a favor and shut up.

ah yes your one of those posters. the one on the vigilante mission to bring truth to the people at the ganggreen. im not gonna bother with any rational argument with you because it will be ignored and you will continue to hijack every thread possible.

we have plenty of posters here who are capable of looking at both sides of the situation. we dont need you to show us any mystical "truth."

edit- awesome you extended your post to sound even more idiotic. this thread is about a defensive back. you saw the title of the thread and decided it would be a good thread to start a dumb crusade to not care about the combine numbers.

i know i said i wasn't gonna make any real argument with you but this thread is already screwed up enough as it is so why the hell not? you call gholston POSSIBLY one of the biggest busts in the jets history. you fail to mention he may still turn out to be a good or even great player. this franchise gave drob like 8 years to not be a bust, and we are writing off gholoston after one year under a coach who we all know wasn't fit to teach a 5 year old to tie his shoes.

what a worthless rant as it will obviously fall on deaf ears, but you annoy the shit out of me and need to get a clue.

I used Gholston as an example of why not to get excited about 40 times or bench presses. Has nothing to do with Smith just an example.

No, you bring a crayons and construction paper approach to rooting for the Jets. Nothing interesting, just basic understanding. And you hammer it and hammer it until nobody takes your posts seriously and most people end up skipping them. Hell, I didn't even know you had posted in this thread until someone mentioned you.

Please explain to me why we as fans should get excited about 40 times? What was Wayne Chrebet's 40 time? What was Jerry Rice's 40 time?

It's not that deep. All im saying is please try to look beyond the 40 times, bench presses and other nonsense used to evaluate Football players at the combines. I am a fan and I hope Gholston turns out to be great. All im saying is evaluate the Cb or whoever we draft on the things he did on the field not a controlled workout. Is that so hard to understand?

i could give a shit about 40 times. your trying to go back and change the original point of your post. all you are capable of doing is posting that gholston sucks. its old, he sucked his rookie year, move on and talk about something else.

The first post I made I specifically asked what did he do on the football field? That is what I want to know not his 40 times or his Vertical. The original point was I don't care what his times were what did he do in school. Please go back and read it before you respond.

He broke the single season sack record at Ohio State. THAT is what he did in school.

And before you even start with your retarded "he got most of those in a couple of games" argument, that is what most pass rushers do. They get them in bunches. It is very rare to see a pass rusher get a sack a game for a long period of time.
