Almost every team scores on ST and Defense. We did too. It inflates every teams scoring, not just for the Jets. Maybe we scored couple extra TDs but its not like the scoring was divided into half and half. A QB should do the trick as long as the Clowney fever turns out to be true. I'd prefer another WR but we have more needs than a WR especially with two solid 3rd and 4th WRs in Stuckey and Clowney. As the reports suggested, Clowney will get his deserved shot and should be good IMO.
Yeah, in everything he has said, it sounds like the majority of new personnel will be for defense an he's leaving the offense in Schotty's hands. What don't you get??? He' s not Mangini where makes shit up, that's what he's thinking and after all he's a defensive guy. The defense does need fixing, I just am pointing out the offense is not exactly the Steelers and I hope he pays attention to the offense.... What else are we suppose to go by then what he said??/ What's the point of this site???
Stuckey looks like he's going to be a very good slot guy for us for a long time to me. He is quick, has great hands and is willing to go into traffic to catch a ball. Can you remember a dropped pass by Stuckey?
Not every team scores on D and STs and very rarely do teams score as much as we did. D AND STs. Barrett at SD: 7(Leon also set up a TD by returning one to the SD 4) Revis vs. Ari: 14 Elam at Buf: 21 Pace vs. SL: 28 Leon at NE: 35 Ellis vs. Buf: 42 42 points is alot scored by your D and STs
I'm very confident that our offensive woes were for the most part B. Favres fault. Our run game was fine. Brett just had an injured arm and couldn't deliver the ball anymore. Rex is a D guy.. naturaly he will focus more on D. He trusts Schotty to runt eh O and thats cool with me. I did not agree with releasing B. Moore though.. I think that will be an issue... not sure where we're going to dig up a replacement.
I totally agree with U & was going to start my own thread on this but you beat me to the punch. Having Shittenheimer eveulating our O players is well like have a book called offense for dummies since IMHO Shittenheimer has about as much ability to evulate our O as Kotex had to be our HC
Yeah we score alot of points on D this year. But what Im saying is, only the 4 or 5 unlucky teams don't get to score on the D/ST. Even though we scored on D/ST, it still doesn't mean we were bad on Offense. We scored 6 TDs on D/ST. We score 42 on Offense. On avg., thats more than 18 pts a game on TDs alone. Add on avg about 2 fgs and you have scored 24 on offense. Lions, Deadskins, Rams and Patsies were the ONLY teams in the NFL this yr with one ST/D TDs. All others had atleast 2. What Im saying is, our Offense is fine. A good QB would sort out any problems but if Ratliff or KC can do an adaquate job, we are set on offense. A good D is something that can take you to the next level.
the offense is such a wild card this year.we have no idea what we have on the bench at qb and wr.ryan can plainly see what the d's problems are.so the plan probably is to get as many pieces to the defense in place this year and evaluate the offense.there no sense bringing players to replace guys who may or may not be able to play.
I think we are fine at WR this year, for several reasons. Clowney is first and foremost. I think this kid will be good and will be the deep threat. Keller will improve, another passing weapon. Stuckey is a good slot guy, Cotch a good possession reciever. Leon can do more in the passing game as well. I wouldn't mind a second day pick on a WR, but do we have the roster space? Ryan's first test will be if he is willing to use a 2nd or 3rd round pick to replace Moore, an he had better if he wants to run a ground oriented offense. Faneca is not a young man. Even if somehow we kept Moore, we need more depth on the O line. We saw Edwards ignore the O line, and that was a disaster. Then Mangini ignored a gaping hole at LG and the entire offensive line imploded. Ryan had BETTER be spending on the offensive line if he wants to run as much as he says. We don't have a suitable backup at center, or for that matter, any of the five O line spots. This line is not going to escape the injury bug two years in a row.
It's unusual to score so much on D/STs and that doesn't count all the great FP our O got b/c of Leon returns or other TOs that set up points. Our O was great against Arizona and SL this year- that's it. Other than that it was very efficient at times but overall it was decent, nothing special. Those Points scored #s are deceiving.
ur out of your mind if you didnt think he did great in the slot. early on favre keyed in on him and stuckey caught whatever was thrown his way. i dont expect that to change whoevers playing qb.
Great might be stretching it BUT it was essentially his rookie year. I have high expectations for stuckey.
i say great because later in the year he was never even thrown to. maybe he wasnt getting open but im willing to bet it had something to do with a declining favre. im just saying were set at slot receiver with stuckey and clowney (occasionally on the outside for a go or cross route) cause the earlier post someone said we need a slot receiver when we actually need a new legit number 1
