I can't believe I put 14,000 vcash into the Oscar's, which I know nothing about really and haven't seen any of these movies. O well, we'll see.
If Penn had been nominated a bunch of times and he'd never won, then yeah, Oscar politics would step into play and give him the obligatory gay/retarded/ugly award. But he won for Mystic River. It's Rourke's.
When are the winners announced? If anyone is watching, please let me know who wins the 3 categories that MSUJets let us bet on
show goes from 8 PM to 11:30 PM. The winners of the major awards like best picture, best actor, and best actress are announced at the end. I'd say not before 10 PM at the earliest.
I'm watching 'Chupacabra: Dark Seas' on the Sci-Fi Channel. 'A legendary creature wreaks havoc aboard a cruise ship'. It's terrible; but it beats watching three hours of a Super Bowl HT show with about 10 minutes of football sprinkled in - which is pretty much what the Oscars amounts to. I hardly ever watch because of it, and often enough, people who are very deserving get passed over or people who have no business even winning a prize in a Cracker Jacks box go home with the big fish. Eh, the Academy gets it right sometimes, but ever since Dorothy Dandridge got hosed, I can't say I respect its opinion all that much even though times have thankfully changed. I'll read about who won in the paper, much as always.
Heath Ledger won. Man On Wire won. Danny Boyle won. Thus far, I think the Academy got things right thus far.
I was watching part II, Oliver Twist on PBS. A new made by PBS interpretation of Dicken's great book in Masterpiece Theatre, it was outstanding, and certainly better than watching the Hollywood circle jerk. Talk about watching quality entertainment vs. ... a pitiful popularity vote amoung ego centric maniacs...
she sure is. Mickey was pretty good though. I thought the format of oscars was pretty good last night. Translation: I didn't fall asleep til 10:15
