Detroit I believe will determine everything
If Stafford is the first QB taken with the first pick, then maybe a team might move up if they want a QB

I hadn't been completely sold on Sanchez until today. This will sound incredibly stupid, but the fact that he's come into the combine as a "superstar" and has done ALL drills shows someone who can humble themselves and do what it takes to win. I like heart in a football player, and he's showing it now. Good for him.

it'll sound biased coming from me, but he's the only one who seems to have a "glow" in the QB group.

Did anyone watch his drills that were broadcast. I think he only completed two passes which were over the middle. His accuracy did not impress me. His arm is average and he is only 6 foot 2. His passes to the sidelines wasn't even close. Jets beware! DON'T WASTE A 1ST ROUND PICK ON HIM. Pat White looked more impressive than him. First round pick has to be a stud. We can't have 2 years in a row our initial pick doesn't play. If you don't go for defense than pick one of the 6 stud receivers.

I can't see Mark Sanchez falling down to 17, but even if he did i do not think the Jets would go in that direction. The way Rex Ryan sounded in his introductory press conference the vibe of tough physical run game, no mistake offense, which does not appeal to a very raw and questioned QB such as Sanchez. Going for a veteran like Garcia, or Leftwich to compete with Clemens seems like the logical way to go for this year. While we wait to see how Ratliff develops for the future.

Yeah I agree, I watched the combine coverage today and he was not very accurate at all, Pat White did way better than him in the passing drills. The commentators really didn't mention it though and they were praising Sanchez, so I'm not really sure what to thing about it. I didn't see the Stafford or Freeman reps.

Taking a QB at 17 is not such a bad idea. If the guy has potential, his salary isn't so great as to force him to start. He can sit and learn the game.

But what are the opportunity costs with selecting Sanchez (who I think is a fine developmental QB)? The Jets would have to pass on maybe the #2 CB in the draft, a sure fire shut-down guy who could immediately start across from Revis and make Ryan's choice of defensive schemes much more flexible. Two man-coverage CB means Ryan can run a lot more aggressive blitz packages. That would be a great advantage to the team.

So I think the benefit of selecting a CB outweighs the potential of Sanchez. And that's especially true when you look at next year's QB class. It has several guys who will likely turn into NFL starters. So I'd rather give Clemens and Raltiff the opportunity to show what they can do in 2009. If both guys fail, then go for a QB in 2010.

This is because the moran Mcshay the so called new guru to replace Kiper has been talking Sanchez up. Seen him on ESPN saying he had great interviews and a great combine. I have been saying Sanchez is not ready since he made his decision. Him coming out was always about the less competition he was going to have this year at the position. I trust coach Carroll when he said he wasn't ready.

I would love for Sanchez to fall to 17, the concern is would the bears jump ahead of us and take him. If Sanchez falls to 17 then I think the best thing that the Jets should do is let Tampa Bay and Minnesota bid for our pick and we drop down in the draft and take the BPA. I would love to get an extra 2nd round pick. I think when you look at the Jets they could get a CB, WR, OL, or DE. All those could be there at 19 where Tampa is or at 22 where Minnesota is. This is might be the year we can finally trade down.

Minnesota already has a U.S.C. QB on the team who was ahead of Sanchez. IF Tampa bay going to pick a QB it will be Freeman.

    Saw nothing special from Sanchez.
Whatever happens until the draft is something else, but I don't think he left the combine with the most favorable impression.

Sanchez has been over hyped for months. His poor showing at the combine is the start of all this crumbling down, he is going to get this year's Death Wait and may even fall out of the first round. The more people look at MS the lower he will fall. And USC won't miss him at all, Aaron Corp is a taller Colt McCoy and he's expected to back up Mustain next year.

IMO, Samnchez looked pretty bad at the combine. I didn't like him before the combine, and now I'm convinced... at the VERY best, he is a project. I think he will be a near total bust. Pete Carrol told him he wasn't ready... Pete Carrol was right.

Apparently the Jets have stated they are not interested in a QB this year.... this thread now makes no sense.

I agree... it just doesn't make sense to draft a QB this draft... 1. we have bigger needs and 2. we alreadt have two QB's who have to be given a shot... if one of them works good, if they both don't we'll get a QB early next year.

Minnesota is trading for Sage Rosenfels - that basically knocks them out of the QB race.

One less trade-up team to worry about...
