DE Kablimba Edwards. I guess the Raiders must of had a way to get out of that hugh contract they gave to Gibril Wilson. Gibril Wilson was there best safety in run support but his coverage ability wasn't the best. Raiders weren't as effective against TEs as they had been with M huff. I think with Gibril wilson release it opens up for T Branch to become the starter. He a very good tackler and should be alot better in coverage than Gibrtil wilson was. K Edwards was pretty effective situational pass rusher for the Raiders who contract was pretty cheap. I think Raiders just like the youngster Trevor Scott(6 th rounder) , Greyson Gunheim (undrafted FA) , Jay Richardson ,Derrick Gray and the one veteran D Burgess(last year of his contract.
Say what you will about Joe, I don't care for him myself, but he seems like one of the most loyal fans you'll ever come across. When your teams is that bad for that long and you're still as into it as he is, you have to respect that. Maybe he's just a masochist.
Please, Wilson was solid this year. He blew some coverages and dropped some INT's but the real reason he was cut was financial. The Raiders once again overpaid for average talent. Surely you're used to it by now. What did Wilson get, 16 Million for one season? Ha. And no, Branch will not step up and fill the roster spot as well as Wilson did. The Raiders are so fucking lost.

I would love to see Gibril back in Blue! His skills against the run are great. His coverage has never been amazing, but the Raiders should have known that when they signed him.

I'd like to have him back too, but it probably wouldn't happen. He's still worth more money than the Giants would have any reason to give him as a spell to Phillips.
Raiders have cut half the starting defensive backfield from the start of last season. And one of their new corners wasn't good enough to start until his late 20s. And the other is getting paid $3-4 million more than what it would have cost to franchise him. Wow, that Al Davis really knows D-backs.
Gibril plays like an SS. Phillips was drafted to be an FS. Gibril can play up while Phillips plays deep and Johnson can be the 3rd safety for the Giants "Big Nickel" package. I doubt Butler comes back, Spags and the Rams will make him a nice offer.
Al Davis does know his D-backs. What it says probably Lane Kiffin was more responsible for the Raiders getting Deangelo Hall and Gibril wilson. Right after Kiffin was fired , Deangelo Hall was shown the door. About the same time Gibril wilson attitude changed.(Kiffin getting fired) Davis got kiffin the players he wanted. Raiders probably have the one of the deepest Cb corps. N Asomugha, Chris Johnson, and Stanford routt all specialize in man to man coverage.(all are more comfortable playing on the outside) Still looking for that CB that can play inside against the slot reciever. With Gibril Wilson gone two young Dbs T Branch 6'0 205 AND Darrick Brown 6'4 200 will be vying for that ss position. Both Branch and Brown have blazing speed(4.3 something) , very good tacklers and should be alot better in coverage than Gibril Wilson was.
