Hey, I was wondering if all the draft gurus can shed some more light on William Moore, S out of Missouri. I've been watching videos of a lot of these guys and I've liked what I've seen so far out of William Moore the best. What I was hoping was that the Jets could trade down, pick up an extra 3rd or 4th round pick, and hopefully pull off a combo of William Moore and Josh Freeman with their first two picks. Is this scenario realistic / intelligent / worthy of consideration? I'm definitely hoping to learn more about Moore.
Moore has had an Up & Down career. The 2007 Moore was evreyone's favorite safety....115 Tackles and an amazing 8 INTs......then came 2008, only 70 tackles and 1 INT. Nagging injuries might have hurt his play, but Moore isn't as good as his 2007 stats and probably isn't as bad as his 2008 play.....somewhere in between. Moore struggles in man coverage and lacks speed. Is an aggressive player that sometimes "overplays" the play in front of him and misses tackles. Moore's stock has dropped significantly, was projected Mid-Teens in Rd 1 in the late Fall......but a poor Senior Bowl Week and lackluster 2008 campaign has moved him into Mid Rd 2 area. Has shown too many flaws in his coverage skills to be a Rd 1 player. Right Now, Delmas is my highest rated Safety.......with no Safety being projected in Rd 1. Some feel Malcolm Jenkins could project to Safety if he has a bad combine time. I'd still try MJ at CB and switch him to Safety if he struggles. If you can wait and your team sucks in 2009....you could have Taylor Mays or Eric Berry in 2010's draft that could easily be Top 10 picks. Right Now....I'd draft Berry in the Top 5 in 2010 and that's unheard of for a Safety. IMO, Berry will be a caliber player similar to the late, great Sean Taylor.
I've heard that too... I believe he's in the 230-235 range.....it couldn't hurt to back away from the table.
It seems like a realistic scenario considering the draft experts say Moore dropped out of the first round by looking horrible against the pass at the Senior Bowl. But if the Jets are going to get a safety whose big thing is hitting than I want Patrick Chung.
Chung is a solid tackler, but if you want a safety that can deliver a game-changing hit, it's Emanuel Cook. Cook is a Bob Sanders clone - if he wasn't such an idiot, he'd be at least a second round pick.
