I could see us going CB in the first, but not QB. If Knowshawn fell to us at 17, maybe, but I do not think he gets passed the Chargers who pick ahead of us.

I dont understand this love affair for Sanchez. He played one season and was not as spectacular as his 2 predecessors. Leinard and Booty. Forget him he will be lucky to go in the 4th round

If the Jets like what they see in Sanchez (if he drops) or Freeman they should jump at the opportunity. Barring that, Davis is the obvious choice if he drops. So far I'm loving what we're seeing from our new coaching staff. So much better that last year when somehow the Jets couldn't see the huge B U S T sign on Vernon Gholston's chest.

It's all pure speculation that the Jets are really going to go with a high pick for a Qb in the draft.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

    Worst. post. ever.

    Who the hell is Leinard?

Sanchez has way more potential than either of the two.

Does Freeman really have a legit chance to go as high as the mid first round?

I'm not high on him, but hell yes he does.

This is an extremely weak QB class outside of Stafford and Sanchez. If both go in the top 12 picks, Freeman is the next available guy.

Plenty of teams are looking for a rookie QB.

really not in favor of taking a QB in 1st rd. We used a 2nd rd pick on Clemens, and I feel this guy did not get a fair shake. He played in what, 7 games behind a Pop-Warner O-Line, and you wanna give up on him?

the relative success of flacco and absolute success of roethlesberger will help freeman tremendously on draft day.

if the jets have him on their radar they may have to sneak up 2-3 slots in R1.

If we get Sanchez good... otherwise there's no way we are getting a QB in this draft. CB is the most logical choice.. along with WR maybe or RB or DE. This asuming we get our LB in free agency

I'm leaning towards the "not picking a QB in the first round" bandwagon. Unless some miracle happens and Stafford/Sanchez drop to us....I think we should go with a defensive player selection at 17. Our situation with our secondary needs more attention than the QB position, IMO.

I'm not quite ready to throw Clemens under the bus yet.

I'm not ready to give up on Clemens as well. I think he could be a very good QB with a O-line in front of him.

That said, we do not have a NFL proven QB on our roster. I'm more then willing to spend a first on a top Prospect if one falls into our lap. I consider Sanchez and to a bit lesser extent Freeman woth it if they are there, depending on the other players we may have a shot at with the pick.

What was Freeman's 3-point% last year?

Jesus Christ, does the Ledger have an Editor?

I would Ecco Mr.E on that one. Freeman has a canon arm and very good size. His ability to slide out of a collapsing pocket or take a hit and still make plays is reminiscent of Big Ben. All of his tools are very very raw and he will take time to develop. He will get a long look from any team with out a solid QB situation, or in need of a young QB to groom, picking in the later half or round one.

Give up on Clemens, he's not the answer. You could see it just watching him, and that assessment has nothing to do with the poor offensive line. Ratliff is the Jets best shot on the current roster. He's not a baby anymore let's see what he's got. And I guarantee you if the Jets like what they see in any of the top three QBs and they drop they will take one.

let me repeat myself, BPA nothing else just draft the bpa!

its obvious the team feels we have needs in these 2 locations. hopefully they will find someone to fill those spots at the locations we draft. if not thats ok too. as long as they draft the bpa i will be happy. we have no superstar on this team, we have no position that cant be upgraded (oddly enough other than cb, thats funny we are looking to draft a 1st rounder to be the 2nd cb to our best player)

granted you will normally have a couple guys in a range of bpas but to reach for a need is a terrible idea in the draft and rarely if ever works out.

I could see us trading down in the first round then getting freeman then trading up on the second to grab a corner as this years cornerback class is deep... any thoughts?

I was hoping to trade down in the first to grab a CB like Smith and then trade up in the second to grab the best WR or RB if McCoy is still there, I just don't think Freeman is worth the first round pick, but then again I think most people thought Flacco was a second rounder before draft day.

The Lions going LT would be shocking, but that would provide them a solid chance to rid themselves of the Millen affinity for skills players and start building in the trenches.

As far as the Bears are concerned, I'd be very surprised to see them move up to take a QB. Orton was having a good season before he got hurt. I suppose I could see them sitting back and taking a QB, but they have better areas in which to use the pick.

If Sanchez falls to 17, I'd be more than happy to see our FO swing a deal to move down. And I'm a big fan of Mark Sanchez. I also was a big fan of Kellen Clemens at Oregon and wouldn't mind seeing him get an honest chance while filling holes and building depth at other positions.
