who would you want to be sitting a 17? i would want malcome jenkins (if he doesnt fall i would pick vontae davis)
If Malcolm Jenkins has a mediocre combine, he will be there. I see him as more of a safety in the pros. I'd take Sean Smith over Vontae Davis - Davis has all the physical tools, but a poor work ethic and a bad attitude scare me.
A LB is the pick at 17. If this is the decison name your pick. Mine is Rey Maualuga or Brian Cushing. Im ok with either one.
I'd go BPA at that spot. If Sanchez is there, it's obviously him. If not, I'd go with Moreno. It'd give us one of the best running games in the NFL. We should go with a CB in the 2nd. Whether it be Butler, Byrd, Smith, Mickens, or Harris; we can get a solid CB at that point.
why would we need a lb if we got scott or Lewis, maybe Lewis then cuz hes old, but if we just signed a big name FA ILB, our LB's are set except for maybe a midround depth guy. I would love to draft Vontae Davis cuz Jenkins wont be there, but i wouldnt mind trading down, doubtful or drafting DHB or a Maclin
There's no doubt in my mind Tanny is gonna fill all the holes before the draft in an attempt to go BPA. He does it every year. He may not fill the given spots w/ flashy names or proven starters...but he fills them as he see fits and than tries to go BPA. W/ that said this team is solid all around, in need of a few minor adjustments and further young depth. W/ that in mind...here's a few names for the draft: Michael Oher, Vontae Davis, Rey Mauluaga, Brian Sanchez, Lesean mccoy, Knowshon Moreno. Alot of options.
I hope we stay FAR FAR away from MARK sanchez, i think its still a year too early to draft a rb in the first, but if Shonn Greene is there in the second, we have to pounce. Theres no way we draft a guy that would play lt, we have brick, and if we wanted a guy to develop and play rt, we would get a guy in the mid rounds.
I would say Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard have solid shots to come here. If that's the case, then we need to go CB at #17 or in the 2nd AT LATEST. I like Alphonso Smith a lot at CB. He would be my ideal selection and I'd take him over Vontae Davis. His height, 5-8, might create some problems, but other than that he looks like a complete player.
That's not what the draft is about. If it was...you'd be loading up on Erik Coleman's,Jason Fabini's,Erik Macmillin's and the like;Polished rookie's w/ no upside that end up as career back-ups or average starters. Yes, you certainly factor in current playing ability and positional needs..but you have to look at the player's overall grade..which projects a player's LONG TERM ability. Bill Parcells always said..for every rookie you start...you have a loss. This team is not a rebuilding team desperate for an influx of young impact starters. It's a team that needs some fine tuning, just had a needed change in philosophy, and needs overall depth. When you have those circumstances...you look for long term ability and overall grade above all else.
Because it seems obvious to me we are getting Bart Scott and likely Jim Leonard as well (wisconsin guy too!) that would mean our primary needs were absolutely no doubt CB and QB. I think if a good QB or CB is worthy of being selected at 17 then thats where we snatch. Otherwise BPA is the best idea. The idea of taking a WR, RB, DT, and DE are all not bad options. They really aren't...if they are the BPA. With that being said we NEED to find a CB. I believe Lowery will be a great nickel in the end but he (just like my draftboard magazine from last year) will never be a #2 CB imo. Plus everybody is saying CB has great depth this year so if thats what we do in round 2 I see no reason for anybody to get mad at us going BPA in 1.
I'm going sexy pick, LeSean McCoy. It doesn't address a big need but if he's the best player on the board than you have to take him. Adding a halfback gives us more depth and change of pace on the roster and can take some of the carriers off our 31 year old starter and our explosive punt returner. Share the love between the three of them and we could end up having two 1,000 yard backs. We don't need to go QB this season to win, we need a running game and a defense to win and I don't want to have to trust the other side of the passing game to a rookie. They're not all going to be as good as Revis in their first year and there's still a few FA veterans to be had. Bringing in Scott and Leonhard seals up two major holes in the defense and investing in the running game now is going to help take pressure off of whatever QB winds up starting this year and sets the stage for a more comfortable transition next year. However, if we can't get McCoy than my best case scenario for the first two picks would be Vontae Davis (provided we still bring in a veteran CB), and Shonn Greene. This year's halfbacks are going to be special so we should try and nab one of them.
We are NEVER going to get Lewis, which kind of submarines the whole thread starter. The other two, quite likely, but Lewis? No way.
Thats why is tayed as Scott/Lewis & Lenord, not Scott, Lewis & Lenord. He's assuming only one of the linebackers. In that Senario wew still have a need for Corner right away. Franchise QB and WR are also issues. Vonte Davis, Sanchez or Maybe Freeman, And Nicks would all be fine in my book at that point.
Would love to get Scott and Leonard and then bring in a Brian Cushing, or Vontae Davis with the first pick, maybe a QB a Sanchez or Freeman, but probably defense first.
Just as if we don't sign any of the guys mentioned I am hoping both Stafford and Sanchez make it past KC & we do whatever it takes to get the one we like best.
