Cap management is definitely not among my concerns where Mike Tannenbaum is concerned.

The number that is probably more accurate is only 1.15, not 15.5.

This cap number isn't taking into account the fact that it shouldnt be hard to restructure Pace and Rhodes. Both have huge numbers due to roster bonus's due however by converting them into signing bonus's and spreading it over the life of the contract both Rhodes and Pace's cap figures of over 10 million come down drastically. I'm not saying Tannenbaum will do this but it's food for thought.

I hate these articles. If they're obviously wrong, then why bother posting them?

This is like posting Peter King's take on what the Jets will do and should do during the off-season.

How is the article obviously wrong?

I think they did a good job of explaining the different reports and telling us why the nyjetscap.com figure is probably the correct one.

There are other things that can be done to get further under the cap as mj2sexay points out, and nyjetscap.com also covers that in an article.

I don't know. I'm fucked up. After Brett retired I heard we were some 10 mil under the cap. Then someone posted we're nowhere near that, we were really roughly about a mil and change under the cap. Some said 3 mil under the cap. And that was with the Favre retirement and Barrett cut under our belt. Now I don't know what we've done in the last few weeks that has gotten us 15 mil under.

Sorry WSW, maybe I'm jaded with the news that come out regarding our cap situation. Either way, I'm gonna stop worrying about it. I'm confident Mike T will do what he does best to get us under the cap as the FA signing period draws near.

The cap situation isn't static (obviously). This article does a good job explaining why it is where it is and why people have conflicting numbers.

This is all confusing the hell out of me. When will we know the "official" cap number and where will that information come from?

They will be doing some restructuring with Pace, Rhodes and Moore which should clear up enough space to do some work in free agency. Nothing like last year but 2 or 3 players.

They have to lock up Leon to a new deal; plus expect LC to start whining about money in the next couple of months.

i never pay much attention to the cap stuff. There are so many ways to structure these players contracts that we don't know about that i'm pretty sure most teams can spend if they want to. Not all teams are as willing to spend big $ as we and a few others are.

    We could cut Bowens...

Edit: I actually like Bowens but with his cap number and the teams savings of 2.6 mil if hes cut I can't see him not at least restructuring.

Pretty confused after reading that. Are we 15.5 under or 1.5 over?

^ It's most likely 1.15 at this point, and there are restructures that can be made to make that figure a lot better. If you click the link, it is probably more clear. I guess the formatting makes it confusing.
