Honestly, I think 17 is too high for Tyson Jackson. He's a solid player, but he doesn't do enough. Kenyon Coleman is a lot better than people around here give him credit for - he's been consistently solid against the run. I think we need about 3 more rotational players on our defensive line - but I'm not sold on Tyson Jackson. I want Sean Smith as well -- the only player I would take over him is Mark Sanchez. BJ Raji would be an extremely valuable pick as well, but he won't be there. I know offensive linemen aren't popular, but if Mike Oher from Ole Miss slips a bit, he'd also be a nice pickup. If Jeremy Maclin is there, I'd want the Jets to pass on him. 17 is also too high Britt. Hakeem Nicks is going to shoot up boards - but it would still be a reach to take him with our pick. Right now, 17 is too high for English -- he is extremely versatile and would give the Jets a linebacker that could constantly change their look. I believe he can play inside and outside in the 3-4.
hmmm... i like knowshon more, but wouldnt knowshon be more of a speed, shifty back, and Wells be more of a power back? I think i would rather have Wells to replace Jones and compliment Leon
No way the Jets go RB with #17. It will be a defensive pick. I like Tyson Jackson and think he'd be good for the Jets. But I think there are far better players to take at that spot such as one of the top CB. I'll go with the consensus and say Sean Smith would probably be the best pick. McCoy will not make it to our second round pick.
I wouldn't be surprised if they took a RB with Sanchez, Jenkins, Maclin, and Vontae Davis off the board. Ryan has said that he wants to build around the run, and adding Moreno would give us one of the best trios in the NFL. Also don't forget the likely choice of a QB. If Sanchez is there, they won't pass and if Freeman impresses them at the combine, they could take him at 17. I don't like Jackson there at all, I'd rather we go with a LB like Sintim or Cushing if we're going to go defensive.
Nothing - but why would he risk his future? He's a star in a sport that looks down upon it. It's okay for the average joe to smoke a bowl every now and then, but not for a guy that's banking on a career in the NFL.
out of the two i would take Moreno. That said I prefer Mccoy personally, but really this is going to be much like last year, there will debates up until draft day about who is going to be the better back. Also am I the only one 100% positive that at least one of the backs will be drafted by the time we pick? In my eyes the Chargers are all but a lock to go RB, whoever they deem better. For whatever unknown reason, I believe LT is a goner in SD, and they will keep Sproles, which imo is a bad move overall. I like sproles he's great as a spark plug like Leon. He probably needs to be used more, much like Leon, but he is not an everydown back. So tossing LT for a tandem of Sproles/first round rookie is just not smart IMO.
While I agree with you Mr.E, but HS guys are idiots, they don't think a whole lot about there future. In their eyes, "What can one joint do? It's not going to kill me..." so they go ahead and do it. I agree he strikes me as a class act, but I can easily see him doing something stupid back in HS or his freshman year of college. Hell didn't we all do some stupid shit in that 3 year window of Senior year in HS - Sophmore/Junior year of College? One mistake shouldnt cost a good person everything they want in life, but a lot of times it can. Granted in this case, even if he did it, its not going to cost him much, maybe a draft slot or two. but then again a slot or two in the first round is Millions upon Millions of dollars.
A lot of mocks have us taking Knowshon...I'm not the biggest fan of this move either unless we trade Thomas Jones for someone on our defense. I think that would be a beast move.
dude 95% of this population smokes marajuana....class act or not... the dude likes to get high which is fine cuz everyone in the NFL likes to get high
I would go nuts over that draft, WW. I think Sean Smith's rising up the boards at the combine, maybe even to the point where we wouldn't be able to trade down in the first, however. It's wait and see at this point. However, this is ideal for me for all the reasons you explained. Beckwith in particular would have been a first rounder, possibly in the early-to-mid range had his senior season not been a bit subpar with his surgery; he's very good value there and is likely to slip through the cracks to the late second because of this. To answer the thread, I'd take Moreno of the two of them. I think Wells has way too much bust potential. I'd take at least McCoy over Wells too. From a power/big back perspective, I feel that Shonn Green in the 2nd or 3rd is much better value than Wells in the mid-first as well.
Pound for pound, you always go w/ the speed guy over the power guy at RB. Speed guys dont get hit as often which means less chance for an injury. In this scenario I go Moreno. W/ that said I like Mccoy better than both Moreno and Wells.,.but I think all 3 will be outstanding in their own right. I think this will go down as a special draft RB wise.
This 2009 draft is pretty piss poor imo but I love wells. he hits the whole hard, and hes a fast kid considering his size. people shied away from AP a couple years ago because of durability concerns and look at the kid now. I know wells is not AP, and I know he doesnt have the drive and competitiveness like AP does, but shit we have a coach now that loves to motivate. I would jump all over wells at 17 I think he is a top 3 player in this draft. Tyson Jackson is also a great pick. I dont know who else people would concider at 17. Most players I see in mock drafts in the first round are not 1st round value players, but I feel like Jackson at 17 is a very safe pick worth the 1st rounder. I like sean smith and a smith but I just don't see them as 1st round talents.
I agree with your assessment of Wells ability but his injury problems make Peterson's look like a sore calf muscle. The guy has just missed too many games for it to not be a concern. If you want a guy with his power Shonn Greene is the way to go. He plays like Lamont did with his power and is probably faster, and he doesn't have Wells' injury history. So long as he can refrain from sending Ray Rice text messages about how he's going to light up the Ravens' defense I'd say he'll have an impact year as a rookie without getting his should broken by Ray Lewis.
If Chris Wells was put up the same stats without the injury issues he would be the best player in this draft. Because of that I think the 17th pick is well worth it.
