I love how Joe's main comeback to the Deangelo Hall mess is a irrelevant former 4th round rookie cornerback on the jets. Is that REALLY the best you can do?
There is no need to make a comeback to deangelo Hall trade. Because Chris Johnson stepped in and was everything Deangelo hall was suppose to be and more. Again the trade didn't quite work out the way the Raiders envisioned, but they still got the same results. So you really think any Raider fan going to be upset with that trade. NOw if you were smart you might get ON Javon Walker signing. No one on Raiders stepped into that role (clearcut number 1) they thought they were getting with that signing. That one hurts.
YEs because with the emergence of Chris Johnson , Raiders could admit their mistake and eat a hugh part of his salary. Again Raiders got the same results they expected with Deangelo Hall, but it turns out it was with a CB that was already on their roster. YEA IM really devastated with that hall trade- NOT. Chris Johnson is a testment that AL Davis still has the eye for talent. HE signed Chris Johnson basically because hes 6'1 200 pound Cb with blazing speed. You look at the late draft picks The Trevor Scott, the Chaz Schilens, Undrafted Fa's DE Greyson Gunheim, WR/FB now Marcel Reese 6'1 240 4.4 speed, Blocking Te D strong and even a Cb/safety Darrick Brown 6'4 200 4.3 something speed and alot of these guys have a chance to be players that have a role with the Raiders now and into the future. Thank God for AL davis.
You would be wrong. The only thing that hurts from that trade is all the money Raiders have to eat on the salary cap(hit they take) this year. IF not for AL Davis having the foresight to sign a chris Johnson a couple years back. This trade might have been really bad. Again Raiders got the same results they expected with Deangelo Hall trade, so I don't know what your smoking. Also the job the Raiders did late in tHis draft and with the undrafted Fa's more than makes up for losing those two picks. Not to mention Raiders getting a former third round OT of the cowboys James marten off waivers( similiar situation to Justin Miller) again lessens those lost draft picks.
That is some flawed logic. When reviewing the trade you guys clearly got burned. Only you would be happy with managment throwing away two picks for nothing.
Lol... only Al Davis would have the presence of mind to sign a 6'1" 200 CB with blazing speed right? How is he so much smarter than everyone else?
YEs Raiders got burned with the trade. NO question about it . The point is Raiders still got the same results they expected with Deangelo Hall trade, but with a diffrent source Chris Johnson Again lessen the blow of that trade somewhat. Let me give you an example. Just say you drafted Vernon Gholston with six pick. He didn't produce but some sixth rounder you drafted was everything you had hope the sixth pick in the draft was. So your investment in that top pick might hurt but you still got the poroduction you expected but from a diffrent source. Now if there was no one to pick up that slack, than that pick hurts just a little more. Capiche.
Reminds me of the Rangers from hockey pertaining to the 2003 draft where every single team picked someone in the 1st round that has contributed besides the rangers who selected a bust who still hasn't made it to the NHL but in the offseason we traded to get Zherdev who was also drafted in 2003 with the Blue Jackets so it sort of lessens the blow.
Again Chris Johnson was out there for alot of teams to sign. Chris Johnson was a nobody with blazing speed who done squat in the league. Who would have known chris Johnson would have developed so late in his career.I do - AL Davis.
But you would never hear anyone on these forums praise managment for cutting him because it'd be a waste of resources. You on the other hand are praising Davis for 'admitting a mistake' instead of ripping him for making the fuckin mistake. Flawed logic, maybe it's a genetic thing like a disorder or something...
Yea exactly the same result, except for the fact your lost your 2nd round pick. And thats great that al davis has a "knack for find talent" congrats your finding track stars for football players and 1 happened to work out. What you havent figured out is that skill players dont win football games the trench players do. Good luck on your continual losing seasons
Okay so your saying your rather your GM kept a player who wasn't performing and keeping a Player that deserved to playing off the frield, to justify his decision to get that player in the first place. Im sorry I rather eat the salary for one year, than to keep trying to prove the trade was the right one. Only GM who job not secure make those kind of lame decisions. Your only setting your franchise back further. Every organization going to make mistakes. Admit you were wrong and Move on. How many years have the Jets been pimping Justin Miller as someone that was coming on as a cb. (looked very impressive in camp) Yea that not to try and protect their draft record.
Again only think that hurt from that trade was the amount of money Raiders had to eat.(big salary cap hit) The draft pick dosen't matter because whose to say that player drafted in second round would have been anybody. You can't be afraid to take chances. Some work out and some don't. Like in 2007 Raiders traded their third round choice to get their future Left tackle Mario Henderson. Listen AL Davis has the proven track record as his formula has been very successful i9n buildi9ng some amazing teams. Your FO on the other hand has never won anything. So give me the guy who is in the hall of fame , over the guy who never done squat in the nfl every time.
how do you hit the "i" and "9" keys together like that?? jesus christ you have fat fingers. by the way..... how the fuck is this picture not in this thread???
I will give you another 41 years and you still won't have sniffed a championship. Keep passing on a franchise Qb for rethreads. When is your FO going to learn from their mistakes. Ive seen my team win three championship. When will you see your team win one???????
