Why not go after Dunta Robinson? I believe he is scheduled to be a free agent. One of the jets biggest weakness's is the lack of a #2 corner. I think Dunta Robinson could start opposite of revis and make an immediate impact in our secondary. thoughts? :metal:
I like it. He's a good #2 corner and he's affordable. He has some speed which would make him better suited for man coverage than Lowery.
I'm not sure how 'affordable' Dunta Robinson is going to be. I've read he's gonna want $6 mill a year with about $18 mill guaranteed. But I'd love it if we could get him, and keep him healthy. Leigh Bodden might be a cheaper option.
Robinson is probably the best CB on the market (I believe Asomugha was tagged). He's going to command more money then the Jets probably want to spend at the posistion considering they already have Revis.
He was good in his rookie season and then kind of fell off. I Rather go for Bartell from the ravens or draft a guy.
Optimally the Jets will want someone, meaning they will only want to pay someone, who is a #2 behind Revis, but who can play man coverage. $6 mil sounds like a lot.
Dunta>>>>>>Ken Lucas. If we are looking corner via free agency this would be the way to go. I would love this signing especially if we can get a pass rush going and a serviceable safety. It would be a pickapalooza back there. Draft WR or QB and load up the D via free agency. I like it
Vontae Davis? The guy that never played his senior season at Illinois because he declared for the draft as a junior. He's a jerk - that's why he was benched. Zook benched him in an attempt to get "more" out of him. He has all the talent in the world. His head got a lot bigger after his brother was drafted...The kid thought he had it made in the shade.
Doing some research on Dunta it seems he wants to stay in Houston and they have made him their top priority signing for this off-season. In other words...hes not going anywhere.
Honestly, I can see him having success at either position in the pros - that's why I like him so much. He's proven at corner, but his versatility could be huge in Ryan's scheme. His combo of size, speed, and physicality allow him to line up almost anywhere in the secondary. Smith could line up at the corner spot opposite Revis, free safety, and nickel. He's incredibly versatile.
I agree that this is not as "realistic" as you make it seem. I see Robinson being a Nate Clements type player. Above average corner who enters the free agent market, gets a huge deal and is still an above average corner afterward, causing disappointment.
