If we can't land any of Baltimores LBs what are some other options at that position. Keith Brooking (too old) or Marcus Washington are rumored to be cap casualties of their respective teams. I live in the DC area and everyone around here is really high on Marcus Washington. He would be a huge upgrade and may be available for a decent price.
We need a solid SS too. Rhodes played like shit last year. IMO focus completely on the defense. I would love to see the Jets have a hard hitting d for once. Remember Mo Lewis, Marvin Jones, Bryan Cox, James Farrior, Aaron Glen, Victor Green...thoes guys could hit. Build, build, build on the d. I could care less if we have the worse passing game in the league. I think our run is solid, it's what the Jets should stick to, and just build on the fucking defense.
Of all the chumps in our secondary, you really think Kerry Rhodes is the player we need to replace? How about we put together a defensive scheme that doesn't give QBs a day and a half. If anything, we could use a decent FS and another CB. I'd be all for bringing Marcus Washington in. We definitely need to either bring in a stud LB or try the draft again.
If Larry English magically falls to the early 40s in the draft you trade up and get him. He is a nasty SOB at ILB. Rhodes will play better when he is not 20 yards off the line... Notice how Polamalu wasn't that big of a factor in the SB??? He was playing the same way Rhodes did all season- does anybody get it now? Better front 7 pressure is the key.... the Jets need a ILB better than Harris to really beat up on teams this year. With those two in the middle, they can wreak havoc from the inside.
Is washington the guy who sent Lavarr Arrington packing? I thought the Redskins were pretty high on him... How old is he?
He is 31 http://www.nfl.com/players/marcuswashington/profile?id=WAS524925 The skins are in a bad spot cap wise and he is a big reason for that. http://www.kffl.com/player/845/nfl
John Larinarius or however you spell his name, would be a nice addition if we are looking for someone in the draft. I've seen projections where he goes 29th or 31st. We traded up last year and got a GEM in Keller, why not do it again this year?
I would love to get Daunta Robinson and Carlos Dansby we could draft a good saftey in the 2nd round, with this aggressive style defense we really need our safties to be comfortable with the ball in the air.
LB is where I want the Jets to go #1 in the draft - Rey Maualuga: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGNJox8eLpE&NR=1 Woooo!
^ he'd be a fine pick... Larry English reminds me of a guy that would absolutely thrive in a Ryan system.... pure football player.
I like what I've seen out of English but I think the Jets would be better off trying to get Gholston going. It isn't economical to load up on one position... coaches need to make something happen.
^ I actually thought he'd play the ILB spot. But he does have the versatility to play both spots. I want Gholston to work too.
Defense wins championships. Our offensive line is solid. We have great receiving and blocking TEs. Cotchery is solid and Coles is diminishing. I'm not too sure about our slot. FB is solid, he should get more carries. One two punch with Jones and Washington. Qb is an issue, but I think WR is more dire. I like Leftwich as an experienced QB; I think we should take a shot at him, but see who wins the QB battle in camp. Defense is all and all our major priority. I just want a solid defense more than a solid offense. I love hard hitting defenses. The Jets haven't had that in awhile.
If Marcus Washington can play ILB in a 3-4 I'd be all for it. He can run with the TE's, and has been a playmaker his whole career. I'm still hoping for Bart Scott.
