Remember a few years ago it was unclear in AZ who should be the starting QB... Kind of like what our situation is right now with Clemens and Ratlifff... Going against conventional NFL methodology Wisenhut actually used 2 starting QB's and had Lienert AND Warner taking snaps throughout the game.
Not sure why that would work here. I believe the reason they alternated was besides Leinart playing like shit, he was struggling with the 2 minute offense.
I'm not sure it would work either, I'm just saying that there are potential reasons to consider it... for example... 1) perhaps a clear starter would emerge whereas right now there is no clear starter 2) it would give both players comparable game experience so our coaching staff could make a more informed and confident decision 3) If we choose to go with just one at the begining of the year we still won't know what we have in the other (especially true about Ratliff if we go with Clemens) Like I said just an idea.
No. A QB by committee approach would not work. The Jets need to have a competition in training camp and throughout the Preseason and let the winner go into the season as the starting QB.
This is a great idea. But I'll take it one step further. Let's use three QBs and have Ratliff, Clemens, and Ainge alternate snaps. After each play one of them can run in with the new play from the coaches!
You guys are right, the idea sucks monkey butt. Sometimes I just post out loud (my bad). I must admit though, it sounded rather genius to me for a split second as my fingers blurted it out on the keyboard this morning.
NO! Virginia Tech did that that last 2 seasons with Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon. It does not work, because no QB can get in a rythm.
