Agreed!! No more retreads or leftovers or one year plugs!! I will gladly deal with the mistakes of our young players anyday over the old players flaming out!! No more nursing home syndrome!!!

Actually garcia reminds me a little of Chad
Safe with the football until the absolute worst time (or big game). Of the teams that the Giants faced in the POs in 07, the Bucs offense least scared them. Why? Fluster Garcia and he will kill you- review the Giants Bucs PO game. He is not the deep threat. A good WC QB- yes. Ratliff appears to be the "strong armed" potential deep thrower, tall QB, whereas Garcia is short and susceptible to the batted pass. Will Ratliff be "smart enough" with the luggage... who knows? With Favre's failures down the stretch and horrific ramifications that ensued, you would think he has a pretty good notion regarding the importance of protecting the football but able to air it out accurately. Actually Ainge is pretty good in the pocket as well (view last year's Senior Bowl). And not giving up on Clemens, I hope the future starter comes from those 3. Whoever has the better play-action skills along with the ability to go through progressions without telegraphing will be the better option in season games.

There's a thread for every other QB in the league, so I guess this one really shouldn't come as a surprise. Still.. Jeff Garcia?? Really?

I think Garcia would have taken us to the Super Bowl last year.

Unfortunately the team nor the man are in the same position. Time for some fresh blood.

There is a big difference in "know" and 'now'.

Now that you know the difference between 'know' and 'now', please do not knowingly use the word "know" as 'now' from now on.

Now about Garcia coming to the Jets...I say NO. Not now, but NO... please, I'll take Vick, who can't throw the ball, before I look at the 58 years old Garcia.

I have simple line of thought when it comes to acquiring a QB...Is he better than what the Jets have?

The answer with most QBs available in FA will be yes unless Ryan is enamored with Ratliffe or Ainge for reasons I couldn't understand right now. Kellen has the look of a career back-up at best. (The Jets won't sniff the playoffs if he's the starter unless a good-sized helping of Favreness rubbed off on him this year. )

I am all for drafting or acquiring a young guy to play QB, but you don't throw the season down the drain for the sake of development anymore. I know some of you will cite Flacco, Ryan or even Roethlisberger as rookies who performed well. But the Jets don't have a defense as good as the Ravens, most likely won't have a guy of Ryan's caliber available at #17, nor have a defense as good as the Steelers (who won in spite of Big Ben his first year).

So if Garcia is looking to break the bank on a 5-year deal and is happy with a 1 or 2 year deal...why not? He'd instantly be the best QB on the roster.

No more old has beens that never were. Lets develop from within. Let Ratliff-Clemens-Ainge battle it out.

The title of this thread pisses me off more than the subject of the thread. Someone needs to man up and change it to NOW

If they brought Farve in for one shot at a super bowl , then Mangini definitely needed to get the boot. The changing of the guard leave the QB decision up in the air. Id like a good veteran on the roster , just in case. Leftwich has the strangest throwing motion and Iv watched him flounder in tough games (The run game saved him a lot). Garcia is more mobile , but he seems Doug Fluteish at times ( He seems small back there). Kellen probably should get the second shot , but if its an open competition then who knows. I say get a veteran and see what happens in camp. Tends to be the Vet that shines anyway.

Get out of here with the pro-Ryan talk.

Very much like the majority of the people on this board, you did not like Matt Ryan a year ago. The point is we cannot go to you for evaluations of collegiate QBs.

I was hoping Matt Ryan would last to 6 or that the Jets would trade up to draft him. So much for that. Instead, the Jets went the Gladys Gholston route.
There is no QB I like in the 2009 draft as much as I liked Ryan a year ago. Sanchez could be good, but I haven't seen him enough to have formed a solid opinion. Stafford has top skills, but he was shaky at times in games. Could be another Elvis Grbac and that's not a good thing. But again, I am not sold on Stafford one way or the other.
