Trade Chris Baker to the falcons for at least a 3rd or 4th. we should definitely try.( i love chris and feel he is real under rated but u gotta do what u gotta do) http://www.prosportsdaily.com/nfl/nfl-rumors.html
A 3rd for Baker? That's pretty generous. I don't think Baker has anywhere close to that kind of market value. We need two solid TEs and we have them.. what would we possibly gain by trading a starting-caliber player for a 4th or 5th round pick?
Anything to get his money off our cap because keller is superior to him and baker is really just an overpaid backup.
Tight end Dan Campbell, who was recently released by the Lions, has drawn interest from the Jets, according to dallascowboys.com. Why would we be interested in Campbell if we weren't thinking of unloading Baker? Not that dallascowboys.com is a reliable source, but.....
I agree!! Good point. I've got a better idea, how about dumping all these bone-head trade ideas that come up every other day, what a waste of Bandwidth.
Every clown who starts one of these threads (and others about how we should sign every potential free agent) should be forced to pay $20 to the site....Bandwidth penalty if you will... For a 3rd? Come on....
Trade for Favre for a 3rd round pick. Trade for Kris Jenkins 3rd and 5th round pick. Trade Vilma for a 4th. Trade Robertson for basically nothing. See where I'm going with this? Baker a 3rd?!?!?!??!??! If we could get a 3rd for baker we would. But we won't. Matt Millen is no longer a GM in this league.
Personally I would keep Baker and Keller. Baker is a traditional TE, good at everything exceptional at none. Keller is a fantastic receiving threat but struggles in run blocking. I would try to sign Bo Scaife, the TE from the Titans. He is an average receiver, but is a fantastic run blocker. Get him, and you have an extremely deep, balanced and dangerous TE unit.
The Jets will cut Baker not trade him. With the current cap situation the NYJ's are in they would save 2.1 million dollars if they cut him prior to March. He is as good as already gone. No way the Jets pay 2.1 million dollars to a back up tightend.
Don't think he'll be cut. Baker will probably have his contratced re-structured, it would be in the best interest of both parties. No team is going to pay Baker 2 Mill. If he doesn't agree, then move on!!
I'm thinking BigFoot has had it as a Jet. I see the knife coming for him before March 1st if for no other reason, we could use his cash against the cap. As pointed out earlier, we have Keller and could get another TE option cheaper especially if all that TE is asked to do is block adequately.
I'd see us landing a strong blocking TE towards the mid-latter rounds of the draft this year if we cut Baker. Think about it- We only have Keller if Baker is cut loose- Franks doesn't count for anything as far as I'm concerned.
I cant see Baker agreeing to a restructure of his contract after his rift with the team last year over money. So he will be cut or traded and no way the Jets are getting a 3rd for him.
We already have Chris Baker signed for cheap. And he's cheap because he has no stats. What team is going to be dumb enough to trade a 3rd round pick for a cheap TE with no stats? Thread fails?
Do you honestly believe Baker is going to be willing to take a salary cut after all the whining about his contract last year? I think he should be traded if possible or cut to get rid of that salary because he's just an average TE that can easily be replaced.
If you can get a piece of ham sandwich with a can of coke for Chris Baker, I'll support you for the next GM in line.
With Keller's rise Baker is now the #2 TE. There's no way the Jets pay the #2 TE a 2M+ salary. He's gone. And especially considering how much of a pain in the ass he was last season before his contract was renegotiated. Baker will be cut.
Another silly thread. Ryan will run plenty of 2TE formations. We will carry 3 TE's (again) and Baker will be one of them.
