ah man. ashame to see him finally hang it up this time. grew up watching him play. imagine if the jets really did get him back when he was being drafted? what could have been i guess...
People have made a habit of making Favre an enemy all offseason, but he deserves a tremendous amount of credit for making this decision now. He didn't have to make any sort of decision until training camp and the front office (stupidly) put no pressure on him to do so, but he stepped aside to give the Jets the cap room and let them have a realistic chance of adding an impact player this offseason. I'm at least happy about that.
Exactly what i said on page 2 or so, i enjoyed having him here, but I'm looking forward to moving ahead. He has handles this off-season perfectly.
Man I hope you don't mean hes like Tony Romo in be good because Romo's not good. But, if you mean hes like Romo in being one of the most over-rated and over-hyped qbs I completely agree.
I think it's actaully more "adolescent" to only be interested in a person who has a contract with one corporate entity, and not have any interest in anyone 9or even the same person) because they have a contract with a different one. Brett Favre was a great football player no matter what uniform he was wearing. So was/is Montana, Rice, Faulk, Moon, Payton, Urlacher, Brady, etc, etc, etc. Yes, I have watched games between two teams I don't care about only because of the players in the game. Yes I confess. I'm sorry you can't get past seeing the colors of jerseys to recognize that some players are worth watching just because they are so damn good & exciting. I'm sorry you can't get past the whole "my team thing" every once in a while to just appreciate the pure FOOTBALL. Seriously, who's the adolescent here? The ones who watch and appreciate the greats, wherever they are playing, because of the thrill of watchign them do athletic feats that seem like they should be impossible, or the ones who will only watch the players of one team, no matter how talented or not they are, and even for them really only care about the final score, the W or L. And are too naive that those players almost never give a damn about the city they are playing for, they are there because they are the ones who drafted them, or gave them the most money in FA. Seriously, *that* way of thinking sounds more like "collecting action figures" to me ...
Just saw this on espn.com. Guess we need Clemens or Ratliff to step it up and lead us to the promise land.
puddnhead please dont let the guys on this site make you think all Jet fans are like this cause they are not. They make Favre the scape goat but it was clearly the D which stunk all year. I have been a Jet fan for 35 years & I know what they had in Favre & that he gave them the best chance to win next year they will be 5 & 11 at best.
So... instead of scapegoating Favre, you're scapegoating the defense. Makes perfect sense. The defense sucked down the stretch, the coaching sucked down the stretch, and so did Brett Favre.
Fooled everybody on the board. Thought you were a favre man crusher. The defense was #2 in the nfl in sacks going into week 9. Favre already said in his conference call that HE CAN'T do it anymore physically. His shoulder was shot and that is the reason he played like shit down the stretch. BTW when the defense makes a stop. Then your beloved favre throws a pick on the 2nd or 3rd play and puts the defense right back on the field without a rest. I think you are smart enough to know that a good offense is the best defense. The defense got tired like any defense would be when your QB can't get a freaking first down. Some fan of 35 years hoping ill will on your team. U Suck!
ANYONE INTERESTED IN SNATCHING UP MIKE VICK? I DONT THINK THEY ALLOW DOGS IN THE NEW STADIUM, he should be fine!
I don't disagree about the D (well the secondary anyway, the run D held up great the first 2/3), but I'm not gonna pretend Favre didn't suck the last third either. Nor did even he pretend it. The team? It's hard to say with the QB situation so up in the air, but if they get that figured out I think they can do better than 5-11. the only difference is that I was willing to allow the guy slack to come back and prove it was only an aberration, if he thought he could (like i've done with him before in his career), others insisted it proved he was completely washed up ... and some of them somehow thought it proved he never was any good in the first place.
