I still like Favre, but this is a huge step for this coming year considering that it cleared up a shitload of cap room.
 The hatred of Favre here is about as retarded as the man love from his groupies. Personally, I'm glad Favre came to the JETS, despite the tragic collapse (like we've never seen that before) He's a NFL legend, who's time clearly has come. The JETS swung for the fence, but the ball went foul. At least it was fun for a little while, now it's time to move on (which it would've been anyway, as we all know Pennington's limitations, demonstrated once again by a strong defensive team in the playoffs.)
What about practices, camps, the pre-season? He has no preference? If either of these guys are viewed as possible starters, they will need to get as many reps as possible, and the playbook will need to be tailored to their strengths. Those are the advantages of NOT having a competition. Plus, not all competitions produce a clear winner.
Erik Boland and Andrew Marchand on ESPN Sportscenter hyping up the Ratliff train... LOL 2 pre-season games and this guy is Tony Romo. Egg will fall all over this team if they just ride with him.
Good to hear. The Favre trade was a gamble worth taking. They got to 8-3 and collapsed. It didnt work out. It's time to move on. I wish Brett well. Now hopefully as we get more and more under the cap we should be able to build up the type of D that Rex Ryan wants. I would sign a guy like Leftwich to compete for the job with Ratliff and or Clemens.
I feel the same way. He brought excitement to a situation that was shaping up to be just more of the same annoying, boring nonsense we had gotten used to. He gave us some hope, then did a lot of the stuff that had Favre bashers bashing him for years before he came here. I had fun watching him play, but I also got very frustrated when he got injured and started throwing ducks and making very bad decisions. The team will move on and hopefully we'll be known for a suffocating defense and an somewhat effective offense during the quest for a starting QB.
I was wondering when Brett was climb down from his tree stand and let the Jets off the hook... BTW, if Farve "retires" from the Jets, then "unretires" with Minn, are we still on the hook for the 1st rd. dp comp???
The Jets still have his rights for the next 2 years. If he wants to 'unretire' and come back, he would have to work something out with the Jets and his new NFL team destination. Good riddance #4. Thanks for the memories, good and bad.
He can't do that because we haven't released him from his contract. He did ask for a release along with his retirement but the Jets said no. So if he "unretires" then he would still be under contract with the Jets.
