The same fans who changed their mind are in (No Doubt) the ones who expected a 4-12 team to be in the SB only six months after Brett got here? Brilliant !!!

I'm sure you saw 8-3 coming too. Didn't you disappear from the board for a while when the Jets were doing so well? I'm sure you were real happy when the season went sour and you could continue to shit on Favre. The entire team fell apart in the end including Favre.

Frankly, there were a lot of 'skeptics', to say the least. Look it up. I was one of them too. I seriously thought Pennington would have his career year, and initially I didn't even like the trade. So branding those who were at best lukewarm toward Brett trade an "extreme minority" isn't quite right.

The reason you "give it to me so bad" is because you think that someone else, who I don't know & just happen to share his enthusiasm for watching Favre, is supposedly posting these things. Even though I've never agreed with those ideas? Okiedokie. Should I start ripping you for what Joe Willie White Shoes posts because you're both Jets fans then?

Once again, a short recap of my opinion of Favre version 2008: he came into camp in less than ideal conditioning (understandable since he was retired) and handicapped by unfamiliarity with the playbook, but still on the heels of a 2007 effort that should have convinced anyone with any kind of judgment and an OPEN MIND that he could still get it done. He did OK in the first part of the season, given those circumstances. In the middle third of the season he gave full game proofs he was the QB that the Jets hoped he would be. Then BAM something happened and he stunk up the last 5 games, these were 5 or his 6 worst rated games of the year, and each one almost a steady decline from the one before.

You can conclude that he just broke down in week 12, and will never play well again. Or you can argue that he was hurt (bicep), and once he heals he will play again. Or you can argue that the lack of offseason conditioning took it's toll (which also can be remedied). Or you can argue the whole team collapsed, and that will naturally hurt his stats. Or you can argue the coachign decisions. Or you can argue Favre quit. Or you can argue 10,000 other points. the point is, they're all arguable. and the only true reality is nobody knows. Certainly nobody here. I don't even think Favre knows (and FYI, I imagine that's why it's so hard to decide). And that means nobody knows if he can play better next -- if he can play close to how he played in 2007 (IMO he never will be able to get back to that high a level with the Jets, because he just doesn't have as good a receiving corp). But that doesn't stop jack@$$e$ here from insisting they absolutely do know. The least knowledgeable fans are always the ones who assert they know the answer to every problem.

I mean, come on. If you have any kind of open mind at all, you have to admit that the following three 2008 games: Arizona, Patsies #2, Titans, were all actually classic Jets games "for the ages," with Favre playing an absolutely indispensable role in making them so. Given that, to say Favre was a complete bust last year is just ... silly. At the very least, this trade worked out MUCH better for the Jets than Namath's stint with LA. Insisting he was a total bust is much sillier than anything Determination#4 has posted (here I come back to that "look in the mirror" argument again).

Where were you when we were 8-3 and Favre was among the tops in the league in TD's?

Some people just can't seem to understand that football is a TEAM sport. It?s easier to call for an individual's head when things go bad.

The funny thing is that if Brett returns and takes the Jets to the Super Bowl, the people in here committed to his departure will be the first ones to jump directly on his dick and call him the "Second Coming of Namath." Why are so many Jets' fans ignorant?

As I've posted numerous times, Favre was never that great this year. Sorry you're not astute enough to see that. He had a few very good games, a few good games, several mediocre games, and several crappy games. You could see it on the first bomb of the year where I believe he underthrew a totally wide open Cotchery. Which would have been picked had their been someone within 10 yards of the him. Yup, underthrown.

    Favre to Cotchery

Again, you misrepresent my views. I never said the Jets would be better off short-term with Pennington. I never said he was the current long-term answer at quarterback. What I said was the Jets probably would have won as many games this year with him as they did with Favre, that the Jets should not have dumped him for Favre, and that the Jets should have gotten something for him. It was clear to me Pennington wasn't the long-term solution, just as it's clear Clemens is not the answer. Ratliff I can't say, but he did look good in limited action.

Why do people hate Favre so much? He never killed dogs, he never threw teammates under the bus... he always took accountability, didn't make excuses, was straight up and honest about his play... what's there to hate? Do we really need a scapegoat to blame it all on? ...I guess some people here do.

Puddnhead said it perfectly. You can argue a million reason why the Jets went from 8-3 to 9-7 and the truth is we'll never know. My theory, it's not just one thing, but rather a combination of all of the things that Puddnhead listed... his injury probably had a little to do with it, not much but a little. He obviously isn't in his prime anymore. I'm sure that had a little to do with it... and heaven forbid I say it.. the entire Jets team, including coaches, sucked donkey $#@! but lets not consider he whole. Let's just put it all on Brett... it's all his fault that the Jets didn't make the playoffs. Just like it was all Chad's fault the Jets went 4-12. I don't blame Chad and I don't blame Brett.

If Brett ends up coming back, are you Brett haters going to continue to spew your Brett hate all the way until game 4 of next year. At which time, if we're 4-0 it'll get awfully quiet in here.

Nobody expected a 4-12 team to make the SB in six months. But we did expect to see an 8-3 team make the playoffs.

Enough about favre! If the mofo wanted to play he should have said so by now. Don't ALL JETS FANS want a guy who has a bad 4 or 5 games at the end of the season to do something like this. The first thing he mentions in the PC after the last game is how fired up he is to work his ass of in the off season. How he can't wait for OTA's and mini camp. Because that will only make himself and the team better prepared to be a force to be reckoned with in the nfl. Come on our new coach already said "You take a swipe at one of ours. We'll take a swipe at two of yours". Spoken like a true gentalmen! Rex Ryan gotta love that guy! In short fuck bret favre and his "I can't make up my mind" bullshit. This is about the NEW YORK F&^KING JETS and what is right for the whole team!!!! not bret favre!
