Favre threw way too many totally inept interceptions for my liking. Because he is Favre, Mangini evidentally did not have the backbone to call Favre out on it. I think that had as much effect on collapsing the team down the stretch as anything. Bottom line: Favre's glory years are behind him. He is nothing more then an aged Testeverdi right now. In fact Vinnie played with more awareness than Favre. I am more than ready to say, "Good-bye".

Man, I saw this one yesterday and had been staying out of it -- because this is getting very, very tired -- but it seems like you guys are determined to suck me in ... All my love to you guys too! My position is simply that I think he should probably retire, and furthermore I never really had much expectations for the Jets to do better than 10-6 & perhaps a one & done last year. But I recognize I've been surprised before when I thought that (2007, couple games in 2008), so I leave some chance for him to have another full quality year. Because, well, the man has obviously proven he is/was capable, just as recently as 14 months ago. You look at 2007 and 2008 combined and he is still the best performing QB that the Jets have a shot at getting on roster (including draft and FA). I'm pulling odds out of the air a bit, but also I'm basing them on past performance, and in doing so I come with the odds of each QB having a "good enough" year in 2009 as: Favre maybe 30%, Clemens (the toughest call) maybe 20% (and I think I'm being generous), and Raitliff, < 5%. In other words, my opinion is that he probably is not as great as he was, and in fact he's more likely than not going to not have a great year next year if he does play, but he's still better than any other option the team has. Wow, what ridiculous pumping!!! 1. You got a job that pays $13M. Do you take it or not? Does that REALLY require half a year to figure out? 2. For better or worse, Favre must let the organization know of his intentions as early as possible - be it returning for another year, or flat out quitting. If he's coming back, then he should participate in the conditioning program. We all saw how he performed in december, and the ineffectiveness is in part due to him not participating the off-season conditioning program (or so I think.) 3. If Brett doesn't notify of his intention to the organization by the combine, (Ok... maybe by draft. That's the latest) then the team should move on, and shouldn't let him come back either. Look. He's not a 5 year old kid, who can't care less about his responsibilities. He's fuckin' 39 years old, and knows the world of football better than anyone. If he's refusing to be responsible for himself, then he shouldn't be here either. 4. Better chance for winning? My ASS! So what happens Favre pulls another horseshit he pulled last year? What then? What's more, what about the life after Favre? One way or the other, Jets need a young blood at the QB spot anyway. The more the franchise holds onto Favre, the more the progress of the young QB get retarded. For those reasons, if Favre doesn't want to be here by combine, maybe he should get the pink slip.

It's not hindsight on my part. I said from the beginning it was a bad move. You can look it up. :wink: Nothing can be predicted for certain, otherwise it wouldn't be a prediction. But it didn't take much to see it coming.
