I'll start watching the postseason once both the Red Sox and Phillies are out. I hate the Phillies and the amount of sucking that ESPN will give the red sox since both NY teams are out will be sickening
The Brewers have decided to become a laughing stock team, once again. So, they're tasked with trying to keep CC and Sheets, and frankly, I expect niether will return. They need to find a new manager. Fill the slots in their rotation. Find some power in the lineup. Fill their defensive gaps in the outfield. Resign Prince Fielder, another player who will undoubedly not return. Suppan is about 400 years old. They have an awful bullpen, at least 3 spots in the rotation. And all with a depleted farm system and craptacular GM. Godspeed, Milwaukee.
they have no intention of keeping Sabathia and probably aren't that interested in keeping Sheets either. Predicting both will leave is an easy bet.
A's NAME MIKE GALLEGO THIRD BASE COACH Mike Gallego, a member of the A's 1989 World Series championship team who played eight seasons in Oakland, will join manager Bob Geren's coaching staff. Gallego, 47, has spent the last four seasons as third base and infield coach for the Colorado Rockies. The Whittier, CA native played a prominent role in the 2007 Rockies winning the National League pennant and making the franchise's first appearance in the World Series.
Talk about overpaid, word is Derek Lowe is commanding $16 million a year, long term. Might be pricing himself out of alot of cities...
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3675580&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines We have our workhorse now, and I think this move means we are going to avoid C.C. Hopefully Tex is priority #1. Burnett #2. One of the Texas catchers #3
not sure if anyone mentioned it, but Ryan Howard signed a three year extension to avoid arbitration. He's getting $54 million. Overpaid.
But really....who ISN'T overpaid in Major League Baseball?! At least Howard produces. IMO, a good example of an overpaid player would be Barry Zito or Carl Pavano.
Royals @ White Sox 2:05 p.m. Meche (0-0) Buehrle (0-0) Rays @ Red Sox 2:05 p.m. Shields (0-0) Beckett (0-0) both postponed due to rain, I believe. Not 100% sure about the Red Sox one.
nah. Zito and Pavano performed prior to their contracts. So did Howard. Now we wait and see if Howard plays close to his previous level. Obviously he's played well before or he wouldn't have gotten the boatload of money. I doubt he'll be another Andruw Jones or Carl Pavano, but he's sure to be overpaid.
That Royals game was postponed because snow was in the forecast. Cardinals up 4-2 on Pirates in 9th inning, but Freddie Sanchez on 2nd.
