it wasn't a knock at Favre, it was a knock against the Jets, you zealot. Let me spell it out for you, I have the laywers from the Jets here to make it easier to understand.

"They," meaning the Jets, should take a stand, meaning that they (Jets) do not extend the time allocated to Favre to make a decision.

If Favre (QB in question), wavers (takes longer than the time allocated to said QB), then they should move on... they (Jets) are the vaginal (scared, losing) franchise they've always been (40 years), if Favre (QB in question) needs more time then he has been allocated (Combine week).

I'd be impressed to see the Jets (vaginal franchise) actually say, "Time is up, we are moving on Mr. Favre, good luck to you."

    Impressed now, Zealot?

I don't know why so many posters here are upset by this situation. Maybe they are prepared to start Clemens.

because some don't know how long the time given is, and others think that this is going to go on all spring, and the hatred for Favre still looms.

I those are some of the reasons, I think, that these threads continue to go on.

The combine means nothing as long as they have there answer by Feb 27th the start of free agency that is all that matters. The Jets should do there homework on all players in the draft regardless of if Favre is coming back or not. Feb 27th so we know how much money we have to spend in free agency any day before that is gravy.

Lets say Sanchez or Stafford fall to 17 I think the Jets should take him if we have Favre & if we dont have him.

you interview players during that time... That time is valuable, you need a decision by the interview days..

If the combine didn't mean shit, they wouldn't have so much to do about it... The pro bowl gets less coverage.

When I say that I mean the Jets need to interview every player they have interest in no matter what the position is even if Favre comes back it will be for 2 years tops we need to look at QB'S as well.

you have limited time to interview prospects, knowing what favre is going to do is important for that limited time.

The sooner a decision the better for the team.

Jets hope for answer from Favre in 10 days

More filler info, tho midway through there is a comment about only losing one first round pick if we trade him this year. Thats different from other reports that I have read.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...pe_to_get_answer_from_brett_favre.html?page=1

The countdown to The Brett Favre Decision has started. In 10 days, the Jets hope - emphasis on hope - to have an answer from Favre headquarters in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The Jets are in the same position the Packers were in the last several years and it's not comfortable. They are waiting for Favre to tell them what he's doing.

When the Jets made the trade in August, they got the entire Favre package: The leadership, the excitement, the improvisation and the interceptions. But they also acquired the aggravation of their life being put on hold as Favre takes his time deciding whether he's going to play in 2009. The Jets need to be pro-active rather than playing nice and feeding into Favre's diva act.

GM Mike Tannenbaum revealed to the Daily News that Favre's decision could be imminent. "We're putting together our offseason plan," Tannenbaum said. "We hope to have initial feedback from Brett by the combine."

The scouting combine in Indianapolis begins Feb. 18. The Jets need more than feedback. They don't need percentages. They need an answer.

Here's what Tannenbaum should tell him:

"Hey, Brett, we'd love to have you back even after you stunk it up in December. We understand if you're physically, mentally and emotional done. We think you'll love Rex (Ryan). We have cap issues, quarterback issues, it all revolves around you, so we're not asking you for a decision by the combine, but we're demanding a decision by the Feb. 27, the start of free agency. We need to know."

Of course, what leverage do the Jets have? They are not going to cut Favre even though Ryan has yet to indicate whether he even wants him. That subject has not come up internally as the Jets begin their player evaluations after Ryan put together his staff last month. But Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson are adamant they want Favre back, so it's not likely Ryan will fight them.

The Vikings may be the only team Favre wants, but as part of the trade last summer, the Packers inserted this poison pill: If the Jets traded Favre to the Vikings last year, they would have had to give Green Bay two No. 1 draft picks. If they trade him to the Vikings this year, the Jets send Green Bay one No. 1 pick. So, he's not being traded to Minnesota.

As much as Favre loves playing, he couldn't have loved it the final month of the season when he looked old and tired. His two TDs and eight INTs in December continued a trend: He melts down when it gets cold. In the last four Decembers, he has 13 TDs and 31 INTs. He's going to be 40 years old this season and he runs out of gas down the stretch.
But the Jets need an answer. Freeing up Favre's $13 million cap number would give them free-agent flexibility. Even if he plays, they still have some room to maneuver. The greater issue would be who plays quarterback? If Favre is done, the Jets can't go into camp with Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff and pray one of them turns into Matt Cassel.

At least when Favre was doing this to the Packers the last few years they knew Aaron Rodgers was next in line. The Jets don't have quality options. That's why the Jets are being patient. They might feel they need him more than he needs them.

Favre has been out hunting and if his accuracy in the woods is the same as it was at the end of last season, he's not hitting much.

The Favre Countdown is on. His answer could come in 10 days.

I would like to see Favre back. honestly, that being said I echo what NDMick said. they told him "near the end of combine", so I'll wait and see. If it stretches out any longer you cut him, save 13 M for rookie contracts and MAYBE one FA.

as far as Clemens goes, I have no idea why so many people have given up so quick. 8 games is not a tell all story on a qb's career unless that qb dies. seriously peyton manning couldnt have won more games behind that OL.

and the main knock i see on him around here is "pocket presence" how do you have pocket presence without a fuckin pocket?

anyways point in case as ive said a million times, come back favre, if you take too long, drink your moonshine and bang your wife, Clemens center stage.

I still dont get this whole who's the QB going to be. We have two QB's now, one being Clemens and the other Ratliff. If the Jets do not believe either of these two are could enough to become the starter next year --- WHY DO WE STILL HAVE THEM. Me personally against all odds I would try Clemens one more time. Play him as much as we can in pre-season and WATCH to see if the O-Line gives him time or if he still has happy feet in the pocket. If he still has the happy feet then we need a change.

I could be completely wrong but it is certainly quite a plausible scenario that the Jets can afford to be not all that agitated by the Favre uncertainty since they are prepared to start Clemens if Favre does not come back. It would explain a lot, among other things why Ryan would want Schott as his OC if Schott were otherwise of the view that neither Clemens nor Ratliff can play NFL level Qb.

We just have to be prepared to move on as if Favre is not going to return. That's what I felt Green Bay should have been doing the past couple of years and last year they did just that.

The lunacy never stops. What are they going to do if Favre comes back? Are they going to draft a QB high this year? Or are the going to be in the same position next year with a 41-year old washed up quarterback. Cut Favre and see what you have. You don't like Clemens or Ratliff draft a QB or sign someone in FA to continue hold the fort. Woody obviosuly cares about nothing other than the PSLs. The fact that people don't even know what Ryan truly wants is sad. This team is a joke. The mentality never seems to change.

If Farve comes back this year it will be a total disaster. Gurantee Clemens goes someplace else and is good and we don't draft one of the top three Qb's and they become stars. You can see this coming. This Franchise is a joke.

if this franchise is such a fucking joke to you guys...why are you here?

If Favre leaves...great! if he doesn't, at least we'll have an experience QB playing for us for another year. It's not the end of the world. You can't even spell the guy's name correctly, for christ's sakes.

    Quit crying....

Spell check isn't going to help you with names, Mr. Wall Street. But since the guy has been in the league for almost 2 decades and he's been on your favorite team for a year, one would think a corporate shark like you would not make yourself look stupid repeatedly like that.

I actually agree with this. I have been saying pretty much the same thing. People get so worked up about crap. It's really not that clear cut.

I used to be worried about Clemens's contract situation, but they can work that out as simply as signing him to a one year extension of his current contract.
