You cant be serious. I dont agree that he should be taken at 17, but how the hell do you come to this draft forum and make a statement like that if you dont know who he is?

Freeman would be an awful selection at #17 of the second round. He's big and strong, but lacks accuracy and that certain "it" quality. If he's there in the 3rd, though, an absolute slam dunk of a selection.

Honestly we really can't make accurate draft predictions until the combine. As of now I wouldn't mind trading down for him if Stafford and Sanchez or gone.

So because he is as tall and heavy as Flacco he is the same deal?

    Think before you post.

I'm in the minority, but I have no problem with Freeman at 17.

As for the guy who said he doesn't have that "it" factor, I completely disagree. To me, he has the most "it" of any QB in the draft.

Big arm, big body, solid mobility, and good footwork. He worked with nothing at Kansas State and improved every year there. If he shows solid accuracy and decision making at the combine, he's a good pick at 17.

To me, Freeman is Flacco. I think you can put him in the Jets system with a good O-line, run game, Heap-like TE in Keller, and a few solid receivers, Freeman will excell.

Freeman is a good pick at 17. He will not be there in the second rd. There are 3 1st rd. QBs in this draft and Freeman is one of them. After that it makes no sense to even look at the rest of the QBs because they will not make it. This draft is deep in LBs DEs, OT, and WRs. We can pick some solid players with the other picks, But you cannot even think about getting a QB after Freeman, because the rest are a waste.
His completion pct. is good. What is this guy talking about?

I'm pretty sure he'll be a first round pick. He reminds a lot of pro scouts of Daunte Culpepper.

How does he lack that "it" quality? He played on a garbage team with no continuity.

I'm not comparing him to Joe Flacco - the strong arm factor isn't a reason to compare QBs.

I don't want Josh Freeman at 17, but if he makes it into the second, I wouldn't mind moving up to get him. He has all the potential in the world. He reminds me of Ben Roethlisberger the most - great mobility for a big guy - giving him the ability to make a lot of plays on the run.

Freeman won't contribute right away - he needs to be put in a situation where he can sit and learn.

Freeman would be a great pick in round 2, I don't want to trade up but because he is the 3 QB he will be picked earlier than he should, I don't want us being the team tha picks someone earlier than they should

Freeman has more upside than the other two QBs and I'm not too impressed with Sanchez. Matt Stafford will be good I believe, but so will Freeman. He has the big arm, improved every season and he will go first rd. Why someone would think he is not a first rd pick makes absolutely no sense, especially since he is considered in the top 32 players on most draft boards.

This is what WalterFootball.com has to say about Brett Ratliff:

"One of the bright young quarterbacks in the NFL, Brett Ratliff - not Kellen Clemens - is set to take over as the starting signal caller if Brett Favre retires. Ratliff will be retained for small money."

I will be the first to tell you that you shouldn't just take what a draft site says about someone and use it as the truth, but those guys spend their days researching players so Ratliff has got to be some sort of good.

With that knowledge at your disposal, would you still draft a QB early in the draft if at all?

Yes I would. Freeman can do things that the QBs on the team right now could never do. His arm strength is superior as well as footwork.
Brett Ratliff might be the one. But all we have on him are Pre-Season Games. He was not highly recruited at all for college. And him not even being considered in the draft raises some eyebrows. He's been passed on alot for a reason. We just don't have enough body of work to put everything into his hands. If he is a miss, then we are stuck. The Season would be a wash.
But if we draft Freeman, a true first rd pick, then we have that possible Franchise QB. We would be set for the next 10 years and then we can move on to the next piece of the puzzle. If Ratliff plays and sucks at least we have a QB learning the system and he would be ready to play in 2010.
