But the rest of the sentence should be "and they got several other picks" and "one of which was used to draft Kerry Rhodes." (btw, that trade does look worse every year. But when Rhodes was doing great, Nugent was doing well, Miller still had potential and Cedric Houston was still on the team it looked OK.)
Ya know even if it was just for Rhodes and Houston it would have been great. If Houston had stayed in the league.
I would gladly trade TJ for a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He's good, but he's replaceable, and he's not going to get better. I never have a problem getting value for your veterans before they decline.
LOL yeah. Trading Jones wouldn't be a bad idea but it's just that I think he deserves to come back off the season he had. He's replaceable but there's no logical reason to replace him now, considering we won't get all that much in return and he's a proven, hard-working workhorse. As long as we draft a young RB with good potential in the 3rd or 4th round in this year's draft or next year's draft, we'll be fine.
i really cant believe how many posters on this site dont understand how the nfl works. If we dont want this guy cuz hes old why would other guys want him. Why would u waste a 2nd rounder on a 30 yr old rb when u can get a guy like shonn green in the 2nd instead it doesnt make sense can we just endthis thread before i fuckin have an stroke
Also what kind of message does that send to the team? Lead the AFC one season and get dumped off the squad the next. I know the NFL is a business but it's also a team sport. You can't just ignore the team dynamics when you make moves. I'm sure many players on the Jets would be pissed (and rightfully so) if TJ were moved off of the roster. You've got to have leaders on the roster and TJ has earned the right to be one of them.
u dont trade thomas jones, as previously stated he only did the workhorse role for CHI like 1 year even than it wasnt over 300 carries i believe. other than that he was regarded as a 3rd down change of pace back. in reality he should be able to be a starter for the next 2 yrs unless he starts getting slower. im still on baord for drafting a RB in rds 2-4 because if either Leon or Jones go down i dont want our running game to miss a beat. further more all in all, Leon should be seeing at least 10-14 carries a game the and a few more touches in the slot or a designed pass play out of the backfield.
What did Parcells do with Jason Taylor? Why did the Steelers let Faneca walk? Get rid of them a year too early while you can instead of wait until you get nothing in Return. There has to be some sucker that thinks they are a Thomas Jones away from contention.
Sorry but an edge pass rusher that can dance the cha-cha/tango better than 90% of the league is in higher demand then a RB whose special talent is flexing his biceps. It was no secret why Dan Snyder wanted Taylor around, thereby artificially inflating his value.
