I actually want Favre back, either that or give Clemens a real chance and bolster the defensive depth and get at least one more offensive playmaker or heres a good idea, give Leon the ball more.

back to the point, I'm all for Favre coming back, id be happy if he did, but I'm not going to sit by and watch the offseason saga Packers fans had to endure and kiss his ass.

I want Favre back for 1 more year I think he gives us the best chance to win & I think he will do better with another year in the system. If we do not make the playoffs next year than it is time to move on. If we do not get a answer from him by Feb. 27 the start of free agency if he can not give us a answer by then we need to move on.

Shaun Ellis led the team in sacks. id say we need more depth and a new starter for the future to compete with Kenyon Coleman. but the biggest worry should be finding a starting corner and a cover LB let alone a capable NT who can spell Jenkins, cause our defense is as only as good as the NT.

that goes for any 3-4 whether it be Rex Ryans scheme or Captain Gumchews

one pick I'd like would be Tyson Jackson out of LSU at 17.

people would say he went from a top 10 pick last yr to a almost late 1st 2nd rd this year but I dont care. solid production and at a lil over 6 ft 4 and 295 lbs hes a great run stopper who plays with a mean streak and has good altheticism for his size.

thats not my top pick at 17 but if your talking DE its a highly probable action.

After the 8-3 start we had a team wide breakdown. Wasn't just the defenses fault. Favre certainly deserves his share of the blame with the turnovers. Nobody should be getting a pass for those games down the stretch.

I'm with you there. I do think if he commits and prepares he's our best option, but if he decides to retire I won't be that disappointed. Mainly because of his cap number and the fact that Ryan seems bent on building a defense, running, northeast kind of team.

I pretty much agree with you but the problem I have with Ellis is him disappearing in crucial pass rushing situations. Except for the play against Buffalo of course. I will take a look at Tyson Jackson. I also thing we need another safety to play opposite Rhodes that is decent enough for him to roam the field a bit more.

Yes I think U have pinpointed some of the weaknesses on the D side of ball quite accurately. Barton/Thomas should also be included as a immediate cuts also

If they restructure they can be kept for depth.

Couple of quotes from an article today........

    http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comme...back-from-glory-enter-brett-favre-198973.html

    # Favre, 39, decided to skip the Pro Bowl because of the biceps injury to his throwing arm. If he were going to retire, wouldn't he go to Hawaii and take a few bows at the end of his career? Instead, he appears concerned about further injury. That makes it look as if he's not through yet.

    # If the Jets release Favre, the poison pill inserted by the Green Bay Packers disappears. That means he could sign anywhere he wants to with no compensation to any team.

If this is true, Minny may be the option he is lookin for...I just hope they come to an agreement soon......

As far as the Pro-Bowl is concerned I would say he declined because he's injured... no sense going to a game where you aren't going to be productive for in the first place. If it isn't the injury, then I would hope it would have been for pride... he had no business being in the Pro-Bowl this year based on his play. That was a popularity vote. In fact, Pennington was better qualified with his season than Favre was, but you could have selected a few others instead of Favre.

Someone should have told him that towards the end of our season.

I thought that very same thing as I was typing it. At some point when you become ineffective you need to step aside. Or someone needs to realize there is an issue and take care of business. Had he stepped down though, I wonder if we would have done much better with Clemens at the helm. I don't think he would have had as many turnovers in some of those last games.

Yeah, I have wanted to see him back as a Jet all this time as well puddenhead, but like you, the amount of ignorant hatred that I have observed on the Jet's forums has me praying this isn't a "legit example" of the whole Jet's fan base in general. As you say, if he does come back to this nightmare of a fan base, it's only because his drive and determination is way above even what I thought was possible !!!

wow ive mad numerous clear, concise, and id say fair assessments of the situation and you and your buddy always turn it into, poor brett favre, the jets better be nice to him or else. dont lump us into one group of disrespectful fans because theres a fraction of people who arent happy with 9 INTS and 2 TD's in the last 7 games. god forbid someone critique a mediocre outting of our QB, read all my posts I want him back theres plenty of others here too. the only reason your getting a negative reaction is because you keep making it sound like the Jets dont want him when its on record as being completely up to Favre.

THE CLOCK IS NOW ON FAVRE HE IS WANTED BACK BY THE JETS THE QUESTION IS DOES FAVRE WANT TO PLAY?

realize this and then you can ignore the jets fans who bash Favre and get over it.

That sounds reasonable and understandable to me, but I think the perspective to keep here is that, for the moment, Favre's open status really does not have an impact on this team. The only year it really has was last year (for both Packers and Jets). For what it's worth, even last year he apparently figured out by May or June that he wanted back, but the Packers resistance to first accepting him, then agreeing to let him play elsewhere, is what kept him from doing anything from June-August. If he does not decide til next month then it has very little impact either way (except if teh decision is yes & there is a question about surgery)

The fanboys have nothing good to respond your posts with other than "he's a future HOFer," "you were 8-3 with him," "the rest of the team sucked at the end too," or "Clemens or Ratliff aren't the answer."

He's going to be a 40 year old QB with a bloated salary, coming off an injury and is unlikely to participate in the offseason program. We owe him nothing. It's time to move on.

To me there are three possible scenarios, two of which I'd be ok with. If he comes back and prepares full on for the season, great. If he retires and we clear the $12 million so Ryan can use it to work on a dominant defense/running oriented team, even better.

What I'm not ok with is Favre saying he wants to play, then hang out in Mississippi all off season thinking he's good enough at 40 to do what he did at 25 without putting the work in with the team. If that happens, then I'm really going to turn on him. As a fan who didn't want him here in the first place, I think I'm being fair.

Then we're on the same boat, though I seem to be preemptively reacting to the 3rd scenario.

I understand. I think you're being a bit unfair to worry so much about him doing that though. He didn't do that before 06 and 07. 2008 was a weird case because of the whole retirement, lockout, and trade things. Favre actually wanted back to the Packers in May/June, if not before.

It has an impact on the team the minute FA begins. That and the draft are both major factors that will require him to make up his mind sooner rather than later.
