JasonJets might dodge a bullet here with the clock stopping for the SB haha. Damn, probably have to hook up with the PM to WW85 with work for most of the day tomorrow. Sucks
Sorry but you lost me with "BAP doesn't matter". I would be curious to heat what Raiderjoe thinks of the pick.
If Matt Stafford is on the board when the Raiders' first rounder comes, will they draft him? He'd clearly be the BAP...No, because they drafted JaMarcus Russell a few years ago. You don't invest multiple picks into the same position, especially in the same draft.
Unless the position is REALLY BAD, but even then the 1st 2 picks on a same position isnt something Al Davis will ever do especially for the O-Line(He loves flashy and quick players)
I think Its Overkill with Andre smith going in first. With the way Mario henderson played down the stretch at LT , Raiders really need one tackle. IF Raiders were to go Oline , I could see them going with next best Center.( C J Grove has really improved his strength but he just can't stay healthy) A WR maybe? Wouldn't be supprised they went for a TE either. Play Two Te Formations more with Zach Miller and TE(I can't list because he hasn't been picked yet.
Well Al Davis did draft tackles back to back in the first two rounds in 1987 John Clay and Bruce Wilkerson. Drafted two Cbs back to back in the first two rounds in 2005 F Washington and Standford Routt. Even drafted two QBs back to back in 1968 Draft Eldridgre Dickey(was AL davis choice in the first) and in second Kenny' the snake' Stabler( Raiders scouts wanted ). With salary cap and freeagency I don't think you can do that today.
Really happy to have landed Nicks right there, Miami I would have preferred a bit taller of a WR but I think he works nicely in the wildcat and will be of use to Pennington. ANother 2nd rder, probably going to send WW85 a list to not hold up anything.
Thanks man, I just hope Miami doesnt do this come draft day but knowing Parcells.....we just might see this happen. hmy:
Guys send me your draftboard, if your pick is near......I'm going to be around a good part of the day.
The Texans have a number of needs.....RB was a big one. The only Rbs on the Roster....Steve Slaton.....had a great year, but is smaller, scat-type back and Ryan Moats (a poor man's Slaton). Both are in the 5'9" range at best. The Texan's need a bigger RB.......Shonn Greene (5'11" 230) was my choice and will provide the thunder with Slaton's lightning. An Improved running game will help AJ and the rest of the passing game. Greene's 1800 + yards at a 6 yard average, in the Big Ten, is something to take notice. Slaton and Greene....a Dam good RB tandem.
So I PM'd WW85 last night, telling him I wanted Hakeem Nicks at 45 for the Giants. Laurinitis in round ne appears like a strange pick, but I felt he was a steal at that point, and Antonio Pierce isn't getting any younger. The Giants can afford to go BPA more. As for Meredith, I felt the Giants needed to get a backup lineman to possibly groom since I don't like their depth there. Good teams stay good by working on their offensive lines, and Meredith is versatile enough to backup a few positions, and good enough to maybe start some day. I don't know a ton about him yet, as there aren't too many profiles up on him, but I feel it's a good pick right now, and OL are going earlier and earlier now, and I wanted to grab one before it was too late.
I like my pats draft thus far. Although I wasnt around for the #1 pick Smith was near the top of my board and addresses their dire need in the secondary. Loadholdt adds a much needed long term prospect for their OL as well as someone who could replace their lone weak link in that area Nick Kaczur. You add a mauler w/ freakish size to an already tough and athletic OL...and you'll see a major difference in the protection of Brady/Cassell and more importantly Marrone's production
Jamon Meredith is the most overrated tackle prospect right now - he's a 4th or 5th round pick at best. He's been a starter at USC since late in his sophomore season. He's started at both right and left tackle and had success in pass protection. There's two huge knocks on him - he's horrible as a run blocker and he's lazy. I blame Steve Spurrier for not motivation Meredith, who was considered a first rounder after his junior year. He gets little to no push in the run game and that's a huge problem for me - I'd want a tackle that can be successful in the run and pass game. I can't blame you for the selection - he's rated high on a lot of draft sites. It's hard to tell about him because of the lack of scouting reports, but I've watched him for two seasons.
