Yeah I think Cowher was a great coach, but I'll wait a while before deciding on Tomlin. He could be another Herm who just inherited a great team.
Why would someone consider Mike Tomlin or Bill Cowher mediocre coaches? Tomlin came in with a totally different style of defense. The players have adjusted and they are still making plays. That is damn good if you ask me.
With all of the crappy SB's that have been played it's amazing that the last two SB's have seen two TD's scored (one by each team) within the last 3-4 minutes of the game. Too bad that the only biggest rooting interests Jet fans have had is rooting against the Pats.
The Steelers follow all of the rules for success in the NFL: 1. Take the best player available at each spot in the draft. 2. If you don't like what's available at a slot trade down and try again. 3. Never trade up. 4. Always get rid of a player a year early rather than a year late. 5. Develope your own QB's. 6. Let the talent dictate the team's strategy and tactics. 7. Never allow a player to become a public nuisance. The Jets, BTW, follow none of these rules on a consistent basis, which is one of the main reasons they are a rolling wreck waiting to happen at virtually any point that you tune in over their post-merger history.
i really didnt think so, i thought it was 2 teams with serious holes playing mediocre games for entire quarters at a time. neither one of those teams have what it takes for me to call them great, really they dont have what it takes to win a single game in the nfl in the 80s but then again that was the nfl this is the mfl. mediocre football league is my new moniker for the league as it is exactly what the league now shows me every week, every year. close game sure but i wouldnt even rank it top 10 at this point. in order for that you have to have teams that are great playing eachother and neither of these teams were anywhere near great. but with all the people talking about it being a great game i guess the nfl has done what it wanted, created parity and poor teams that play tight games. im not so much a fan of it though.
of course they could, they are all jacked up now when in the 80s they were just hard working players. so yes of course they could. but put them back in the 80s and it would be a mess.
What kinds of things were you hoping to happen to make it a great game? The lead changed twice in the last few minutes and it was a close game with some big plays by both teams throughout. Whether either of those teams could have beat the 80's niners or 90's cowboys is irrelevant in deciding if it was a great game IMO.
You too huh... I had Cards 4 and Steelers 0. As for the game I though the 1st quarter was boring but you had the quick challenge and a quick start for Pitt. At the middle of the 2nd quarter you could see that Arizona could play with these guys and if not for that pic I think they win and by at least a TD. You have to think if not for that play they don't need to score quick after the safety and could have taken some time off the clock.
There are very few teams that follow those rules.... there is a reason them and only them have won 6 Super Bowls. The 49ers followed that formula pre salary cap as did the Cowboys but to me the only team even comes close to that is the Cheats and well rule # 8 with them is gain an advantage any way you can even if you need to break a few rules.
I had cards 7 pitt 0 and ended up hitting the 3rd. If they had tackled him on the pick 6 i woulda hit the half.
Dam I would imagine the half paid more? I'm not complaining, I hit a few props. 1st TD at 15-1 and I got my safety finally. I also hit a stupid Ovechkin prop, totals points vs Big Ben TD passes. I may have a few more but I haven't finished checking them.
exactly I love how the players get faster, bigger, stronger, and more skilled as time goes on. the only people from the past who couldve played today is those who were godlike in their time. ask the 260 lb OL of the past to block the DL and LB's of today. vice versa, 215 lbers versus the 330 lb OL of today. right. people also forget coaching was FAR more simplistic than, so the few good coaches ahead of their time made the already good athletes look untouchable. the game today has bigger faster pawns in a more complicated game of chess. thats not to take anything away from the past because I love watching the physicality of the older games but to tell me if you put Ray Lewis on the field in the 70's that hes not eating peoples skulls for lunch id laugh. furthermore this goes for every sport, the average athlete is better than they were in the past. I'm not saying Icons of today are better than their predecessors im saying just the average talent level is higher. which is why you had more franchises and sustained success in the past due to the clear dominance year in and year out of a handful of players. very seldom do you see it these days.
Indianapolis has followed those rules lately. Although it's easy to follow them when rule 5 is fulfilled by Peyton Manning.
Ben HAMBURGLAR wasn't clutch. The Entire Cards Defense was HORRIFIC. When you have a team pinned at their own 12 yard line with just about less than 2 minutes to go, YOU FIND A WAY TO STOP THEM! I hope the Squealers enjoy their Gift-wrapped Superbowl Victory....and I hope Obama is happy(isn't a President supposed to be impartial?).
