I thought Garcia was the guy who would have taken us to the promised land last year, and I still believe that. Not so sure the current situation would be the same story.

Under no circumstance should we even consider Leftwich as a starter and maybe not even a backup. If Garcia is available, I'd go with him as a veteran backup.

Anyway, Ratliff should be the starter IMO.

You're right, I was an infant when Plunkett was an old quarterback.

His stats look horrible though - never had more TDs than INTs with any of the three teams he played for.

Leftwich as veteran competition is fine with me. I agree with that sentiment. Look how it worked out for Tennessee with Collins.

I'm not a big fan of Leftwich....he has cinderblocks for feet...and his release is too slow. In fact, i don't like ANY of the QB's in the FA market this year.

I'd rather go with Clemens/Ratliff or draft a QB this year or next.

While we are at it, I heard there is a Namath statue that the Jets can have real cheap. Same difference as Leftwich. Except the statue will have a quicker release and be more mobile.

Wow and I thought Pennington was horrid to watch, just wait till this fanbase gets their meathooks in Leftwich........lol

Gentlemen, though I'm not against bringing in a veteran QB, considering how weak the free agent market is, wouldn't we be better served if we found out what our three (3) young QB's, who are already on the roster, can do? Clemens will have only four (4) years in the league, Ratliff will have two (2), Ainge is coming off his rookie season. There has to be a reason why we drafted these guys in the first place. Lets see if any of them can get the job done first before we go out and bring in another QB. If they all fail, then we know that we have to draft a "franchise" QB early in the next draft BUT if one of them proves that he can be a starter.... We'll be set at that position for at least the next ten (10) years.

Just think of how people will tear into Favre if he comes back and doesn't do any offseason conditioning and isn't the football messiah during the season. New York will annihilate him.

The thing about QB's it seems, either you have it or you don't.
Joe Flacco started because it was obvious to the coaches that he had IT. They rode with it and it got them to the playoffs.
Matt Ryan is the same thing.
So is Roethlesberger, Troy Aikman, and a few others.
When Parcells picked up Tony Romo, he obviously saw in him the IT factor to be successful at this level.
I don't know if these guys have that IT. That is why they are right where they are
We are debating about guys who either haven't shown IT yet or IT ain't never gonna happen

To be clear, I said as competition, not necessarily the starter. just in case one of the young guys is a disaster

How could we have an agreement with him already? He's in the Super Bowl.

Lets just get a #1 receiver and work with what QB's we have at this time. If these QB's dont work out then we really need to make some changes on who stays and who leaves at the backup postion.

The problem is no one in here likes any of the possible FA's and there is no sure thing Randy Moss in this draft. You just never know who is going to be great.

Hey Gunther, I hate it when someone in here makes sense. But a very good point.

    NO!!!!

He is not the answer. I would rather give Carr or Anderson a chance.

Leftwitch is no better than Culpepper.

    Culpepper
Now this is a perfect example of a QB benefitting from great WR's.
He is not a winner and sad to say unless he gets his head right, never will be
