1st round-Vonte Davis CB Illinois. I basically see this pick as a position where the pass defense has to be addressed, safety, corner, linebacker whatever who ever is selected needs to be good in coverage. At this point, he looks to be around when the Jets pick but at the combine his stock might shoot him up the boards. The only thing that is concerning is his ball skills, he could have had a shot at way more INT's. Alternate Selection: James Laurinitis LB Ohio State

2nd round- Brandon Gibson Wr Washington State Some would say Hakeem Nicks but Gibson is someone not being talked about. He is good at pretty much everything. The reason he is probably not higher ranked in other places is because he is good in a lot of areas, but does not have an elite body (6'0 202) and does not have one particular super stand out quality (i.e speed). But if he is there I think he would be a great pick for us. Alternate Pick Alternate Pick: Rashad Johnson FS Alabama

3rd round- Scott McKillop LB Pitt I think barring a free agent signing I would think that the Jets would address this pick somewhere in the first three rounds. In addition the numbers McKillop put up in college are staggering. This past year he had 137 tackles, 17.5 TFL, 4 sacks, 4 Pass deflections, and an Interception: Alternate Pick: Terrance Taylor DT, Michigan

4th round- Andre Brown RB NC State. He never put up great rushing numbers, but I think he would be a nice fit. He has nice size (6'0 224) for a RB and despite the fact that he is a larger back he does have nice hands for a big back. Alternate Pick: Alex Boone OT Ohio State

5th round- Pannel Egboh DE Stanford it seems like everyone on the board (including myself) likes this kid. He has a nice bulk for a 3-4 line a nice pass rusher and nice against the run. Alternate Pick: Louis Vasquez

6th round- Quinn Johnson FB, LSU Tony Richardson proved how great a fullback can be. Quinn Johnson is really big after all he was a linebacker coming into LSU. He paved the way for Charles Scott 1,000 + this season. He is also very effective around the goal line. Alternative Pick Deangelo Willingham CB Tennessee

    7th round- BPA

Brandon Gibson in the second round is one of the biggest reaches I've seen in any mocks this season. He's has little to no upside, he's slow, and he plays like a girl.

McKillop, Brown, Egboh, and Johnson would all be excellent selections - I don't know if Egboh will last that long though.

I'm still not sold on Vontae Davis in Ryan's defense - I'm a Sean Smith guy: versatility is key.

Agreed on Smith, I would be happy with Davis and Smith in the first two rounds and addressing the front seven in free agency (Canty or Bart Scott hopefully)...

Safety is clearly our biggest need.
after that it's CB, ILB, WR and QB

IMO the jets should look for the BPA in those positions.

There are no franchise safety this year and they could find some good potential starters in later rounds (3to5).

Solid CB are almost always drafted in the 1st round with some exceptions (see Samuel).

Again it's not perfect but a 1st round CB is rarely a bad pick.

WRs are very hard to draft because tons of them can't make the transition to the NFL. From what i've gather route running and hands are keys in the NFL compare to speed and size. Again you have to take into consideration the level of competition and the talent surrounding them. WRs are usually risky business.

IMO the jets should go safe this year and try to get a solid starter and not the flashy pick Vontae Davis in that case would be a very good pick-up !

    Not bad..

If Vontae Davis lasts that long, it should be a no brainer. I wouldn't be too sure about Laurinitis though...

There might be better than Gibson in the 2nd round as of now... I might look for someone else. Rashad Johnson would be an excellent choice. He would be the coverage safety while Elam gets in on running downs or to play the run.

I like McKillop (I'm also a Pitt fan), but I'm not so sure he fits well in the 3-4. Check a few scouting reports and you'll see what I mean.

Quinn Johnson would be a nice pickup regardless of whether Tony Richardson returns.

Overall I'd be OK with this one..

this is clearly one of the worst mocks i've seen. Everything after Davis in the first is horrible.

People that come in and leave insight like that just doesn't know what they're doing. I wouldn't even worry about a comment like hat.

No. The two biggest positions of need on this roster are NT, and WR speed on theoutside.

You need someone to develop that can CREDIBLY spell Jenkins early in the year. Jenkins wore down late which was another large part of the collapse.

And you'll never be fully capable on offense without big speed out wide.

I don't know how fast Hakeem nicks is yet, bu the one thing you do like is that he catches the ball with his HANDS....

I strongly disagree Hobbes. Our WRs are more adequate than our DBs, our pass rush from the outside is a much bigger need the NT depth. I think Mosely is decent, but Kenyon Coleman and BT cannot get to the passer to save their life, add that to the fact that Shaun Ellis is getting older. DE, CB, S IMO are our top needs, then WR, LB, QB, THEN NT Depth, I don't want to waste a top round pick on a guy just to spell Jenkins and be his replacement in four years.

i still believe Jenkins was hurt and Mangini changed the defensive scheme to something nobody liked.

I would like a NT backup, but in the later rounds. WR speed is now a big hole as is safety and LB speed.

Clowney is a maybe, but there needs to be a #1 replacement for Coles. Cotch is the ultimate #2 WR in the league
