Despite all the exciting Jets "news" that is being discussed in the main forum, there is still one real football game left in this season. Who do you think will win? Do the Cardinals have a shot? Will they cover the 6.5 point spread?
I'm hoping the Steelers take care of business but i refuse to say the Cardinals have no shot because they have an experienced QB in Warner and an outstanding trio of receivers. The reason I like the Steelers besides my bias is because we too have an experienced QB, a killer D, and I just think we have more playmakers all over the field. Here's to a Super Bowl Trophy Six-pack!!!
Cards win the game. 1) Kurt Warner is statistically the best QB in the league against the blitz. The Steelers defense is predicated on the blitz. If they go blitz happy as they usually do, Warner will make them pay. 2) Half the Cards coaching staff is from the Steelers. They know that team very well and they know how to attack them on both sides of the ball. 3) The last time these teams met, the Cards weren't nearly as good and beat them. They put a lot of pressure on Rothlisberger and seemed to take him out of his game. They had 4 sacks and 2 INT's. 4) Larry Fitzgerald. 5) Hines Ward will probably play but for a guy that already lacks speed, he's going to have a hard time getting open and making cuts.
^ I would bet my balls the Steelers don't win by 2 TD's. The Cards are the lock of the century. Think Gruden leaving Oakland for Tampa ...
Totally false. These ain't your daddy's Steelers. The Steelers 3-4 is unlike any others. They don't blitz hardly at all anymore - the two OLB's get all the pressure they need - from time to time they throw in another stealth attacker and still have 6 back in coverage. Who was that other 3-4 team that put up 56 point on the Cards this year?
What does a team's 3-4 defense have to do with scoring 56 points? Besides Revis and Pace's TD's. haha.
OK, I admittedly do not know how often they blitz. When I think of a Dick LeBeau defense I think blitz, so maybe I'm making a bad assumption? Thanks for the correction if this is true. I'll pay close attention to how many the Steelers are sending tomorrow. Good luck to you.
sorry - I was thinking about the horrible day Warner had, he was throwing everything up for grabs. The Cards play a high-risk/high-reward football and Kurt's horrendous miscues in that game led to a 34-0 halftime lead. I can see Big Ben laying a 50 burger on them too, but I might be a bit biased.
Thanks. The Steelers usually only open up the blitz packages on 3rd and long, playing the nickle or dime with Timmons in there at LB - he runs like a deer. The talking heads have been parroting this "blitzburgh" crap all week, I just don't think they watch the games.
I see what you mean now. I agree with you, but that was a long time ago. I could easily see the Steelers winning in a blowout, hopefully Arizona plays aggressive and takes the game 28-24.
I'd like to see the Cards win...just because Whisenhunt is a former Jet. However. Defense wins championships....as the Giants proved last year. And the Steelers are basically #1 in D right across the board. The game is won on a Woodley fumble recovery for a TD. Pit- 28 Ari- 21
Pitt. 33 - Cards 24 The Jets turned warner over 7 times. 4 fum. 3 int. it's so easy the Jets can do it! I don't see why the steelers can't do the same thing. They will stop the run. They will be able to get pressure on warner by rushing 4 or five(as opposed to the eagles 6 or 7 man rush) Allowing more players to be in coverage. Warner will not be able to hit the hot receiver everytime as he did in the eagles game. Willie is healthy. #1 D in the nfl. I could see Pitt. running away with this game.
