Good pick with Raji, he seems capable of stuffing the run and getting to the QB which is special for a DT, and DT is definitely a huge need in Cincy, possibly the BPA and possibly the biggest need, can't argue against this pick.

Jabba's pick for Cincy makes no sense whatsoever. Raji does not have a criminal record.

Of course you don't have to take a QB if you have number 1 pick. They would have taken the best LT I would have no problem. Lions were to take Curry with the number 1 Pick the whole City of Detriot might go up in smoke. Again tell me how many LBs have gone number 1 overall.

Look what Baltimore has done over past ten years - Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Peter Boulware, Duane Starks, Chris McCalister, Ed Reed, and Haloti Ngata were all first round selections by the Ravens.

They did select an awesome left tackle by the name of Jonathan Ogden, but seven of their last fifteen first rounders have been used to build that dominant defense. Two have been used on offensive lineman.

I think this new regime is going to be all about defense -- too many strong minded, DEFENSIVE guys are in charge in Detroit.

Love the BJ Raji pick - he'd be a huge pick up for the Bengals.

    LOL

Yeah but he was academically ineligible last year, so he's still Cinci material

Smith to the Raiders. Lol thats got bust written all over it.

Edit: Thats not to knock JamesHasty for the pick. I just think lately the Raiders have the Midas touch in reverse and everything they touch turns to shit. See Robert Gallery and Michael Huff

Jeaux's been reading too much stuff by Scott Wright.

I won't name names but a lot of guys to the Raiders would have bust written all over them...it's just such a terribly run franchise that players have to be truly truly special to succeed (Asmogugh, McFadden).

Youre killing me. It does not matter how many LBs have gone number 1 overall. Also, since it seems youre going to keep asking, I dont know how many have actually gone number 1. Tell me how many QBs have busted while being drafted at number 1?

    That's going to piss off RaiderJeaux. Smith doesn't run a 4.02 40.

It's a smart pick - Oakland needs to protect JaMarcus Russell. If JR doesn't pan out though, they can probably convert him into an offensive lineman. He's fat enough.

Given the Raiders recent past it might have been nice to get a boyscout for this pick but Andre Smith has the talent the Raiders offensive line is sorely lacking. He is a powerful mauling run blocker and is agile enough to contain pass rushers on the blind side.

I still think Andre Smith is the best player in the draft, Good pick even if he doesn't fit their ZBS

Guys, thanks for the compliments on the RAJI Pick

I was tempted to take Andre Smith, but I think Raji has a chance to be a dominant run stuffer and penetrator who can make plays in the backfield including the inside pass rush, and at 325+ I just couldn't let that get away

PS. He was absolutely anihilating people at the senior bowl last week .. highly regarded OL's .. destroying them

Jeaux, the first two #1 picks ever were both fullbacks.

JEAUX WANTS THE HISTORICAL PICK. PICK A FULLBACK FOR THE RAIDUHS.

BJ Raji would be awesome for the development of Keith Rivers - it's a shame Rivers broke his jaw early this season. He looks like he's going to be a good player though.

If you draft a linebacker who turns out to be DeMarcus Ware, he's worth three #1 Overall Picks much less one!

That's all it comes down too, MC .. if Curry turns into an "IMPACT PLAYER" ala Ware and Merriman, nobody would ever regret selecting him #1 Overall

If they took a QB he wouldn't need to start right away, it's not like that team is going anywhere next season, an why wouldn't they have a running game? Kevin Smith played pretty good and only got better as the season went on, and CJ was still one of the best recievers in the league with 5 different QBs throwing to him.

The Mario Williams thing is a bad example, DE's have a way bigger impact than 4-3 OLBs, and Mario Williams might have been the best DE prospect ever, next to maybe Julius Peppers
