NEED SOME HELP!!!!!!!!!! It's almost 2 hours and no sign of JetfanMack!! At Noon I will need someone to pick for the Seahawks, if Jetfanmack is AWOL. I'm unable, cause my Browns select next. No GM can make the pick, if they are within 5 picks from their next selection. Please repond to this message or PM me. THX!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm on the waitlist and I'm around, I plan on still being here around noon, if it's cool with everyone I can make the pick...
Guys after Seattle's pick, things should pick up.......WW85, Jabba, Hasty, Quik, Wolfe......are all in shouting distance.
I love Osackpo for the Chiefs. Losing Jared Allen among other things crippled that team last year. I'm not sure with a new coach coming in if they would pass on a Qb though.
Please delete the name from your post. The first rule of mock drafts is DO NOT NAME PLAYERS NOT PICKED YET.
Hasty.............please be around at noon...............when Seattle picks, Myself (Browns)and Jabba(Bengals) will be picking right after.......thanks.
Wow my apologies I was completely unaware. Name deleted. I'm just trying to discuss the picks so I can get involved in future mocks my fault.
I know a few POTENTIAL franchise quarterbacks were available, but this team is in shambles. Remember Joey Harrington? I don't see how any quarterback will be successful with this current team. I could have easily gone Eugene Monroe with the first pick - honestly it was a toss up. I just looked at this team and there is almost no set position besides Ernie Sims, Calvin Johnson, and maybe Corey Redding. The Lions are so bad. Matt Millen created a giant clusterfuck. Detroit's offense and defense were equally bad...both at the bottom of the league. They've been building that offense for it seems like forever. It's not getting them anywhere. I chose Aaron Curry because in my opinion, he's the best defender and the surest thing in the draft. The Lions also have the twentieth pick in the first round...and I have about four or five positions I'm looking at with that pick.
Well said Mr. E!!!! I don't think you need to defend yourself. Aaron Curry was clearly the best defensive player on my board. It sounds like you have a gameplan.
I love Curry but I don't see a team paying a LB #1 overall money. As good as Curry is I don't think he's the type of player you can build the defense around when he has no d line in front of him.
I looked over their defensive line before I made the pick, because I was thinking the same thing - Curry is pretty good at taking on blockers though. The defensive line in Detroit isn't that bad, but it's still not good. Dewayne White and Cliff Avril look like a pretty good defensive end tandem - the problem is in the middle. Ikaika Alama-Francis is moving inside to play next to Corey Redding. Both of their projected starters at DT are under 300 pounds. The linebacking corps is now: Ernie Sims, Jordan Dizon, and Aaron Curry. Curry would play on the strongside for the Lions. He'd have plenty of room to roam... Curry's the best defensive player in this draft - so he's the best guy to pick if you're trying to build a defense.
I'm certainly not knocking Curry, he is indeed the best defensive player in the draft. However with the shape that offensive line is in as well as the linebackers that might fall to the 20th pick...not naming names...I think Monroe might have to be the pick if they aren't going QB.
The Lions have three first rounders at tackle, but Jeff Backus has been awful - he doesn't have much help next to him though. The new coaching staff apparently likes last year's first rounder Gosder Cherlius. The last first rounder is backup George Foster who was drafted by the Denver Broncos - he's clearly there for depth. The other guys on their line are: Center Dominic Raiola (2nd round pick by Detroit) Guard Stephen Peterman (3rd round by Dallas ) Guard Edwin Mulitalo (4th round pick by Baltimore - FA signing from Baltimore that replaced Damien Woody) Rookie Guard Manuel Ramirez (4th round pick by Detroit) If I would've drafted a tackle, Backus would have moved inside to guard, which wouldn't be a bad move. Also, I didn't want any of the other linebackers - Curry is the best.
Agreed on both points that Backus has been terrible and Curry is far and away the best linebacker on the board. He's the best defensive player on the board. I'm not sure the Lions last year can be a fair evaluation of an imcoming rookie but Cherilus was terrible.
I'M WAITING FOR A SUB gm TO MAKE SEATTLE'S PICK......IT'S COMING UP SHORTLY. wASHINGTON....PLEASE MAKE PICK IN sELECTION THREAD
Again Its JMO. Im not making the pick. Still if you really were an NFL GM, you would be out of work in two years with this pick. With the two first rounders and early second the Lions were in position to set themselve up quite nicely for the future.(start to put the pieces together of nucleus of core players) QB , LT and Possible Defensive prospect. You took an OLB who is not an impact player at number 1. Not a good start but lets see if you rebound . Again Its jMO.
