I'm hoping 25 years is enough seniority to at least get better seats than what my group has now (Sec 333 Row 12, 25 yd line). I'd rather sit with them than the current populace of my section.
My guess is that wating list people will get a chance to buy PSL's because once the uppers get sold out. a lot of current holders will bail
Does anybody think the Jets know that they are gonna have big time trouble selling PSL's and that the non-psl seats upstairs was the worst thing they could do? The Jets team went into the tank, have no QB and a rookie coach and the economy gets worse each day. I find the whole thing fascinating because the Jet fans might the first hard core fans to make a statement to the sports world. My other questons is, if we do not sell out all our tickets to season ticket holders, how much would they charge for single game tickets? It would not be fair to sell them for face value since the season ticket holder paid that and the PSL's. Last time I say it, we will not sell out our games, especially if we suck next year, so that could mean local black out. This will be very interesting.
I'm in an odd spot in that I finally was offered seats last year but "deferred" since I'd already bought tix from a friend for the season. So I was told I'd be offered again this year. So, I assume at some point in the near future I'll be offered upper corner seats for the 2009 season, but also at some point I assume I'll be offered expensive PSL seats after they exhaust the current season ticket holder list during the first round of offerings for 2010. I have to see if my friend is still offering the 2009 seats, since they're likely better than the upper corner seats I'll be offered (lower upper deck...I love the view). But either way, I plan on going in 2009, either w/my friend's seats or seats in my name. 2010....I have to see if I can hit the lottery or perhaps if this economy turns around in the next two months (ha ha). If not, I'll likely pass on the PSLs and just pick up tickets from friends or in the lot or stubhub or whatever in 2010.
Sounds realistic. With the cost of PSL's, what do you think people are gonna charge on stub hub for tickets? . You have to factor in the PSL investment when you sell a ticket, not just the face value of the ticket. People are not going to sell tickets or not go so fast, not with the investment they are making. Its a whole new world
Due to the records supposedly being "lost" everbody that had tix prior to 01/01/77 there seniority began on 01/01/77 no matter how long before that date you had season tix. As an example I started in 1965 but due to that supposedly loss of the records my seniority according to the NYJs actually begins on 01/01/77. IMHO another strike against our owner
Yes, this will definitely be interesting. If I just paid $5k+ for PSLs, I'd want to sell them for more than the "face value or less" you can usually get tickets for in the lots (especially when the Jets aren't doing well). But even PSLs aside, how about people paying $400 and up for tickets. I really can't imagine them selling those in the lots for anything close to that. Who carries $400 on them, or $800 for two, to buy in the lots before the game? Maybe I'm out of touch, but unless sellers/scalpers start accepting credit cards in the lots, I can see a lot of disappointed sellers either eating $400/ticket or selling them at massive discounts to just get *something* before kick off.
Said another way, the ticket prices the Jets charge have always seemed a little disconnected with supply and demand. Many times, for instance, the $70/ticket for upper deck seats that the Jets charge is way below what the market will bear. Especially for big games. And this is represented by stub hub/parking lot sale prices. But now the new prices, especially when considering PSLs, appear to be generally WAY above what normal folk will want to pay. What normal person is willing to drive to the lot, do some tailgating, and pick up a couple tickets for almost $1000 for a week 3 regular game? I think just about none. I think I'm with you on the Jets not selling out the tickets in 2010. But even if they do get season ticket holders to buy up all the seats, when people in the lower sections can't make it, I think those sections will be very empty since I can't fathom the "after markets" supporting these crazy prices.
we need to force their hand. dont buy the psl.whether you are a long time season ticket holder or a waitlist member.dont buy it.
Sorry folks, I'm buying the PSL. There's no way the Jets are going to do anything different than what there doing now. They will sell, and games will continue to be sold out.
Yep U had it 100% correct! Yes I agree if most say NO to the PSLs they will force money grabber WOODY to amend his policies towards them
I'm in the exact same boat as you. I deferred my tickets last year because I bought a ticket from my friend already. If I get my own tickets this year that would be great, but the more I think about the PSL's the more I think I won't do it. I was thinking about the $4k PSL, but someone pointed out earlier how much those game tickets have increased over the years which I hadn't thought of at first. If they come out with a guarantee that ticket prices won't increase for x number of years I may go for it, but I'm not sure. I also heard that if you don't buy the playoff tickets you would lose the PSL as well. That really sucks.
I need to get organized with a couple friends/family members. If I'm still employed when I'm offered tickets for 2010, I may be willing to buy 1 $4k PSL. But I think my days of just paying for 2 tickets and then figuring it out as I go are behind me. $4k plus 10 tickets may be doable if I'm still employed at the time (knock on wood), but $8k plus 20 tickets is a little scary, at least for me and my own financial means. I'm also wondering what is the point of getting tickets in my own name for 2009. Assuming my friend comes through again, his seats are better, and I've never had an issue with him withholding (the very few) playoff seats we've been offered in the past (come to think of it, he owes me the money I sent earlier this year for playoff tix). It seems the 2009 and 2010 season ticket assignments are two distinct things, so depending on timing I may wind up saying no to 2009 but yes to 2010. Yes, I'm all over the map here, but only since I love going to games so much but am unfortunately not independently wealthy

This is why threads like this are important and why I've been pounding the table all along about the PSLs. My opinion is that although it's a very small chance, it may be possible they go through the entire customer base and do not sell out. Now they're into May and realizing they have to call back guys like 17a and Champ and myself and others and they know we've all declined their initial PSL offers and we'll be opting for the Uppers, which of course, will become completely sold out, IMO. So now what do they do? Vinnie calls me back and the conversation goes something like this perhaps?: Vinnie: Hey there 227, how are you? Listen, I know you wanted the Upper Deck but I've still got some choice seats in the Lowers, like row 23 on the 40 YL. Their only $4,000. 227: Uh... thanks Vinnie, but I can't afford them. Vinnie: Well, listen, I know what you're saying. How about $3500? 227: No Vinnie. Look, they're probably great seats and I'd love to, but it's just too much money... know what I'm sayin'? Vinnie: What about $2800? 227: Geez, it's getting tempting Vinnie, but I'm still afraid of the ticket prices there. Aren't they something like $400 a seat per game? Vinnie: Yeah, well... I can't do anything about that, but you seem like a nice guy, so let me talk to my sales manager... hold on a second... (Vinnie puts me on hold)... Vinnie: Okay, I talked to him. He really wants to move some of these seats. Tell you what, would you take them for $2500 apiece? I might be able to get them for you at that number. 227: Look Vinnie, what do you have for me in the Uppers? Vinnie: What do you what to pay for those lowers and I'll go ask my boss? I'm thinking there is a possibility that they're going to have to play "Let's Make A Deal." They've already established a pattern of bargaining, if you will, by running their shamefully cockamamie eBay auction. That auction had prices all over the map. Some fool spent almost twice as much as somebody sitting one row behind him, for example. How F'ed up is that? So they've already indicated they'll do whatever it takes to move this crap without being concerned about the fact that some are paying more and some are paying less than the established "sticker price." How shameful is that? What I'm saying is that somebody like JetsFan2004 could conceivably pay $4000 and later on, they have to drop the price to move the seats right next to him. (not singling you out 2004, just using you as an example). I think folks are making a mistake in thinking the prices are fixed and cast in stone. Yeah, they are for the time being, but look out below if they don't get sold. Woody is going to look like a real idiot with every seat in the Uppers completely sold out and many, many unsold seats in other areas. I don't wee him doing that. Rather, I see their sales team eventually working the phones with orders to get this shit sold at whatever the market will bear just to fill the stadium.
I'd low-crawl a half mile over crushed glass just to drink her bathwater if I thought she could get me good seats.
BOOYAH...... PHASE 1 YESTERDAY i strongly turned down the psl. COMPLETE PHASE 2 call back the jets and requested a personal tour of the new stadium b/c i am slighty interested in the Club Seating. COMPLETE Phase 3 take tour with family and still reject PSL Phase 4 wait for jets in may to make me a unbelievable offer on PSL seating, if not i still sit in the upper deck. I CANT LOSE.
