Just to go one step further on this whole not being able to transfer the tickets..... If I have four tickets in my name and I get hit by a train tomorrow, my brother and two cousins that have been going with me to games for 30+ years are screwed out of going to any more games.....that sounds ridiculous... BTW....their returning to games would only be acceptable after a suitable 3 week mourning period.
Yes, you are absolutely correct on this. And so is your above post concerning your brother and cousins. I have been told this as well. Now (with your "hit by the train" scenario), the NY Jets would not necessarily ever know that that was the case or that your dad had passed away, for example. In other words, they don't read the obituaries and computer-match the names to their ticketholders. Worst case scenario is, you get hit by the train (and God rest your Jets-lovin' soul and we'll all be envious, because you'll probably get to heaven and watch SB3 live from the 50-YL), the Jets never have to know. Let your brother send in the check or your cousin Vinnie. I've been paying for my season tix with a company check (I own a small, family-owned LLC) and they've never once questioned who the hell sent it in or who signed it. For all they know, you could be 100 years old and they're probably never going to call and try to verify that it's still you that owns the tix.
Yes, that's a good point. But again, the Jets have never called me ONE TIME to verify who the hell I am. I could have been hit by a train 25 years ago and it wouldn't have mattered, so you've got that kind of extra time that your family can consider "adding on" if they have to. The Jets will never know the difference unless you call and spill the beans. You might consider transferring the tickets right now (assuming you own season tix) to your 5-year old. All that's required is his signature on the transfer form (which is downloadable right from the NY Jets website). This way, suppose you decide you don't want to buy the cockamamie PSLs. You've still extended your "ticket time" by putting the tix now into your son's name. Like my son and I discussed, it can't hurt. In the unlikely event that we decide to become lifelong indentured servants of Woody Johnson's and purchase the aforementioned POS, worthless, cockamamie, eternal ripoff PSLs, the fact that we transferred them to him becomes moot. Like I say, our new president has vowed to do away with the practice of torture. But he needs to talk to Woody Johnson about this also and make it perfectly clear, because nobody is going to torture the PSL holders more than Woody will, once he gets your signature and your check and cashes it. They're talking $400 per seat in my section. That's $400 per game. That could easily go to $500-$600. Totally insane. And now you know why I'm taking the precaution of transferring into my son's name for now, just to be on the safe side. It's like chicken soup... it can't hoit.
Just got off the phone with the jets.they called me about my seats in the new stadium.and I have officially tyrned down the PSL's.I will be cotacted in may about the upper level
Holy shit! You are the first guy I've heard fo to be contacted and refuse! You are the man in my opinion! It's a good move, 17A. I think you're going to be fine, I really do. With your seniority, you're going to be offered some very nice Uppers along the rail in May. I am right behind you and will most likely do the same thing. And I'll probably be sitting a couple of rows behind you, so don't be alarmed when an old fart taps you on the shoulder and says, "Hey sonny... would you mind sitting down? I can't see so good and you just blocked that fucking field goal." Hahahah.... Good move, my friend! JUST SAY NO TO PSLs!
He said he was the one in charge of seating.I had all my bases covered he offered club seats behind the bench.then the 5 or 4 k seats.I told him even if the lower level didn't have a psl,I wouldn't sit in the lowr level.he then told me the upper level is higher in the new stadium.which in turn I said but my seats will be a lower row.his final push was the no transfer rights fo the upper level.but I already transferred the rights into my 6 yeat old sons name. He than was out of ammunition and said where do u want to sit? Mid field row 1 seats 1 & 2.see u in may.
Good move man. You said all the right stuff. I probably won't get the first rows but mid-field will still be okay. I should still wind up with something decent. Man, this is gonna get pretty hairy by May. I wonder how many turn-downs these guys are getting. When they run out of prospects and 90% of the respondants want the Upper Deck, then what will they do? Back to square one, I guess. Start calling up guys like 17A and playing "would-ja-take" like a freakin' car dealer.
it was like dealing with a used car dealer.but every angle he had i had an aswer.its the guys with no sinority that are gonna be at the mercy of the jets.... btw what is the correct spelling for sinority?
Thanks for letting me know about the 1/31 deadline. I just transferred my seats my 16 year old. I contacted the Jets and spoke to the person who will handled my account. I have zero intention of moving downstairs but I am going to play along because she said we can tour the site and I want to see the upper deck seats. I have a friend who also has tickets since 1981 but does not sit with us so we asked the women if she can take his account and she did and linked us together so we can pick our seats with her. She was great
The upper deck will be the hot seat and a lot people, 10-12 years or less are gonna have to make a decision between no tics or PSL's. That means its going to be like a Devil game where the lower bowl is 1/2 empty and the higher you go, the more seats are filled. THE NY JETS WILL NOT SELL OUT THERE GAMES in 2010. That's my prediction.
I'm still on the waiting list but should come off this season so I'm pretty much fucked...lol. I'm not too optimistic they'll have any upper deck seats left by the time I get to choose so I'm debating whether it's even worth it or if I'll just buy a few games a year from Stubhub or Ticketmaster or something like that.
Link the 2 accounts so they are handled by the same person, its still 2 different account #'s and persons
I think they may sell out the games in 2010, because of the novelty, but I doubt they will sell out in 2011 and beyond.
Wow, it's interesting to see this process kick off in earnest. I wish we could know how many folks with seniority are actually buying PSLs. I'm somewhere in the first 1000 on the waiting list, I think, and I assume they'll go through the current ticket holders and then at least deep, and perhaps completely through, the current waiting list trying to push these PSL seats. I wonder what they'll do if/when they go through all of those folks. Start over and sell harder? Big advertising push? Price cuts (me dreaming again Keep us posted, everyone.
JET SEATING CHART http://www.newjetsstadium.com/seating-chart.html GIANTS SEATING CHART (skip into., go to Seat Allocation) http://www.nyg2010.com/ I missed 'Nick's' phone call today. I sat down at the kitchen table after dinner and did some serious number crunching. Then I did some realistic number crunching. Then, I went to the Jets website. To sit comparable to where I am now, I would be sitting on the OPPOSITE SIDELINE, 50 yd. line, Sect. 139 (we've always been on the opposite sideline - the sun's not in your face - plus, good for heckling - it was done on purpose - same at Shea). There is only a 5K DIFFERENCE PER SEAT to be on the JETS sideline in that exclusive POS Club they keep trying to stroke us with (at least that's what it looks like). That's the first ripoff. Then, I think, OK, let me look at Sect. 239, the next Sect. up, opposite sideline - and the PSL is the SAME PRICE as sitting in Sect. 139. So then I go look at the Giants website, and their PSL for what would be Sect. 139 for the Jets is 5K LESS PER SEAT. I look at what their PSL for what would be Sect. 239 for the Jets and it's 12.5K LESS PER SEAT! I can't wait to talk to 'Nick' tomorrow. After turning red in the face and really stewing, I finally said, "You know what? If I really struggle, I might somehow be able to swing this. After further review and all things considered - EAT MY SHORTS." I'll be swinging for Sect. 339 on the 50, Row 1. After having these seats as regulars since '63, this is what I get. See ya there, 17A. EDIT: Sorry if folks have to go back and forth with the links to see the price comparisons. I'm too irritated to be bothered with managing an image. OK, I lied. I'm too dumb.
