Why Do You Think The Strategy Changed? Brett's POV There were persistent reports that Brett Favre was bridling under the game management strategy B-Schott and Mangini were saddling him with up through the TN game. Also, when asked to make those long throws we were so enamoured of in the Arizona Cardinals' game later on in the season, Brett consistently missed his receivers. You can say this was because of his injury -- or you can own up to his breakdown as a 39 year old QB trying to do too much with his out-of-shape body with no off-season preparation. White Shoes is right on this take, in my opinion.
Actually, I think you just disagreed with WSW. You said the problem was due to him being out of shape because of no offseason prep. Presumably meaning that he can address and fix that issue this offseason.
If Favre comes back I will have to assume Ryan and the rest of the CS and FO will have had to conclude that they will get a better performance out of him down the stretch. I am agnostic on whether he should or should not come back, but all the Favre haters here are going to be very disappointed if he returns, when it could well be the expectation of the organization that something simple like a better off season training regimen can fix it. I saw his performance toward the end with the same disappointment we all had, but I also remember he got the Packers to the Champ Game just the year before. His lack of a strong training regimen last off season is at least theoretically an explanation, and one with a possible solution. In other words, if they bring him back, the haters here need to accept the possibility there is some good reason for optimism.
If Farve comes back that puts Ryan and crew one step closer to the door if the season is not a successs. It would mean Mgmt still expects this team is Sb ready and that is just not the case. Farve did nothing to suggest he will get better next year. It was worth the risk since woody thinks he bought a championship team but it is time to stop living the lie. If we get a young Qb Ryan has a chance to grow with his team. If Farve comes back and falters the wolves will be asking for Ryans head. We need to groom a guy who can lead this Franchise for the next 7-10 years.
Where do you come up with this stuff? Everyone and their dog knows that Tanny and Johnson want Favre back. How on earth does Rex Ryan get the blame if he does come back and doesn't do well???
If Farve comes back it means Woody and Tanny believe we can win it all so they are going for broke. They felt we should have won this year and Mangini was let go because of it. How do you think they will feel if they make more additions for Ryan and we don't get it done? Our team is not as good as they think it is.
Look at it this way, do you think Johnson or Tannenbaum will come out and say "it's my fault" if the Jets suck next year?
