League sources told the Post-Dispatch on Saturday that Charlie Baggett is being hired as the new receivers coach on Steve Spagnuolo's staff. "It's hard to believe," Ellard said Saturday. "It's been a wonderful eight years. It's sad that it comes to an end, but in this profession you know it happens. "When I sat down with Scott for the first time (in '06), he said he wanted me back. With Steve, he told me he couldn't guarantee anything. I respect that. He said if you have an opportunity to take something else, I understand." Ellard flew out of Mobile, Ala., and the Senior Bowl on Thursday morning for New York and his interview with the Jets' new head coach, Rex Ryan. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and working with the guys there," Ellard said. "It's a whole new start." Ellard thanked Rams ownership and management, particularly late owner Georgia Frontiere and past team presidents John Shaw and Jay Zygmunt, for giving him the chance to coach in the NFL in 2001. He loved working with Holt and Bruce, who have 11 Pro Bowls between them. "It just made my job easy, being around guys like Isaac and Torry, with their work ethic, the example that they set, and the way they carried themselves," Ellard said. Henry Ellard was great WR borderline HOF and I mean as good as some of the borderline HOF WR who are in.
CAN we please draft a receiver that is over 6'2'' and can catch the damn ball. Kind of like someone who just shot hiumself,, you know the one. Yeah someone like that.
You know what , every TC and pre season we have WRs that light the city up , then.................disappear like mayflys.

^ Stuckey is a 7th rounder.. i've seen good potential in him... not #1 WR stuff, but he's going to be around as a damn good #3.
Well hopefully this guy can work with these young guys and get at least one or 2 of them to make it to the regular season. I think both Stuckey and Clowney have some potential and maybe this guy can give them a push.
He's been successful with the rams without a receiver over 6'. He was also a pretty decent receiver that was under 6'. Not sure what everybody's obsession with height is.
Stuckey should have been a 3rd rounder, but wasn't seen post-injury so teams avoided him like the plague. There are guys that drop like rocks each year due to stuff like this, and they're big gambles - It's all up to whether or not they recover from their injuries, and it looks like Stuckey did. Height helps a LOT. Vertical and height are nowhere near the same thing. I'm 6'4" and have a horrible vertical. I don't care what the guy's vertical is, if you put me up against a 5'10" guy (a very normal height for corners), those six inches play a huge role in positioning because my shoulders are over his, and actually catching the ball when we go up for it cause my arms are longer, too. A short guy with a huge vertical might win in the occasional jump-ball scenario of the fade route, but anything in traffic will give the taller receiver the advantage over the shorter one with better ups.
Haha, it's not science. But you sound surprised that these 7th Rounders are good in TC and then disappear; that's why they're 7th Rounders. You want a bluechip #1 WR with speed and height? Then you gotta get 'em early.
The best receiver in NFL history wasn't 6'4". he is 6'2". Marvin Harrison, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt are all 6'. Yes all of them are over 5'11", but most are around 6'. The height argument is weak, now football speed you can argue.
