You know I never actually bet anything. I don't gamble. I'm just saying I am certain he pitches at least 30.
30 is not a very fair line for a guy who is thinking that Wang is a little bitch. Why not just take his career average number of starts? It's 23.75. You think he's a bitch? Take the under on that. On the other hand, I think the bulk of the time he missed was due to injuries that were more flukes than signs of durability issues, and would take the over in a heartbeat.
"Friday is moving day in the Bronx and, no, the crates don't have pinstripes. Eighty-six years after moving in, the New York Yankees are moving out. The team's front office will move across the street Friday to the new $1.5 billion Yankee Stadium, which is nearing completion and scheduled to open in April. Belongings will be moved in orange plastic crates -- reusable, so as to be environmentally friendly, team spokesman Jason Latimer said Thursday. There was no word on whether Reel 2 Real's "I Like to Move It" -- a Yankee Stadium staple -- will be played on the public-address system. The Yankees temporarily vacated the ballpark after the 1973 season while Yankee Stadium was remodeled, and the team spent two seasons at Shea Stadium in Queens before moving back in 1976. A few departments will remain at the old ballpark for another month: the clubhouse staff, information technology, the ticket office and the switchboard. They tentatively are set to move on Feb. 27." http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/baseball/mlb/01/22/yankees.moving.ap/index.html
Just bought tickets for 4/18 Indians @ Yanks. Got Grandstand Dugout seats, row 2 section 415, first base line. Anyone else going?
I was looking at Stubhub earlier and even though I knew what they were it was real sticker shock to see the prices of those field level seats on the 1st and 3rd base lines. They had better keep signing these FAs to get these people to continue paying $1700 per seat per game.
Sheets would be your #2. He would easily be the 2nd best pitcher on the Yankees staff. No one in their right mind would put Sheets, Burnett, and Joba in the same rotation. If you're relying on them all to make 30+ starts, you're kidding yourself. The Mets on the other hand, are the perfect team to sign Sheets. Santana and Pelfrey both threw 200+ innings last year, and they have a lot of depth (Niese/Redding/Garcia/Parnell) if Sheets goes down.
Heyman says the Yankees are still interested in Pettitte and Sheets. This is the first I have heard anybody say they were interested in Sheets. http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/h...st-in-pettitte-sheets?eref=fromSI&eref=fromSI
That wouldn't matter a bit to the Yankees. They still have Hughes, Kennedy and a couple of other starters they could turn to. If all of that failed they could still sign somebody else at the deadline. Oh, and Sheets would be the #5 in the Yankee rotation if for no other reason than his lack of durability. Even with that aside, he isn't better than Wang, Burnett or Chamberlain anyway. He is a national league pitcher trying to make it in the AL east and has an ERA that would project to somewhere around 4.5 - 5 in the AL. Definitely a #5 and that is all the Yankees are looking for now anyway.
Yeah, you put Sheets at #5 simply because early in the season with all of the rain outs and days off, #5th starter gets missed a lot. You can preserve his arm that way.
Yeah, and isn't everybody surprised that Torre is whining? At least it's good to know his number will never be retired now. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3859198
Yes it will and it should. Nothing new is coming out of the book, we all know ARod is jealous of Jeter and never comes through in big spots.
