I guess this thread turned out to be longer than I expected, lol, it's just that this is my first post since the Jets lost in week 17 and I guess I just had to get some things off my chest

I really love how the Jets waited for their man and actually landed him right after the Ravens were eliminated... Defense Wins Championsips and you know what? This Jets defense has the pieces in place to be nasty next season and with the right coaching, offseason moves and play-calling...I look for this Jets 3-4 Defense to be the face of this Jets franchse for years to come.

Everyone knows that a dominating 3-4 D starts up front...In Baltiore Rex Ryan had Ngata to work with, in Pittsburg they have Hampton, NE has Wilfork and you know what? Our Jets actually have one of the best NT's in the game today by the name of Kris Jenkins. Without a beast of a NT... I honestly cant see any 3-4 Defense doing much damage (Just ask tje Jets teams of the past with D.Robertson running the show.) As a Jet fan, I'm just excited that we have a healthy NT in Jenkins to build this deense around for the next 3-4 seasons.

The player who I feel will REALLY come into his own under Rex Ryan is none other than... David "The Hitman" Harris. Look @ the Ravens with Ray Lewis, the Steelers with Farrior, the Patriots with Bruschi for all those years... After the NT position, it's key that a 3-4 Defense has talent within the front 7 and you know what? I feel that David Harris is the ideal MLB for any Defense thats running the 3-4. In my eyes, David Harris has the potential to be a Star in this league behind a solid D-Line, Im talking about a top 5-6 MLB here. And if this Jets front office can actually go out and draft or sign a solid #2 IMLB to play alongside and upgrade over Barton, I feel we are REALLY set @ the LB position with Pace and eithe Gholston/Thomas. One thing is key for Rex Ryan and David Harris...Ryan needs to turn this man into a leader on the field...David Harris needs to be the man that steps into the role of a Ray Lewis and pumps this Defense up in the huddle before games. All eyes on David Harris.

Gholston is a project and yeah, he had a down rookie season as an OLB but you know what? This was his first year playing the OLB position in the NFL after making huge play after huge play from the DE position with Ohio State. As a fan of the game...I honestly have the patience to see this kids full potential carry out onto the football field, because if it does...Opposing QB's and head coaches better watch out on Sundays and Twice on Monays. If Rex Ryan can have this kid playing @ half the level of a Suggs...You know what? This Defense can be sound for years to come. Call me crazy, I'm not trying to be a Jets homer or anything, but Gholston has the ability to be a scary OLB for opposing QB's when rushing off the edge. He has the speed mixed with the quickness and you cant teach that. It's up to Rex Ryan to bring the best outta this kid from Ohio State. He's no Schegel, thats for sure.

I said it when we signed the guy last offseason and I'll say it again...Calvin Pace is an awsome player to have when running the 3-4 Defense. He may not be a pass rushing monster but you know what? He's an all around talent in terms of making plays as an OLB. This guy can rush the QB, Drop back into coverage and man up the TE or the RB and he can also stuff the run with solo tackles (I'm not sure about his stats with the Jets this year, but he had something like 100+ tackles with Arizona the year before and 80+ of those tackles were Solo tackles) All I can say is this, If Harris can be the David Harris I picture him being under Rex Ryan, if Gholston can make some game changing plays, if we can upgrade over Barton (Which we should), I really like Calvin Pace and this Jets front 7 led by Kris Jenkins.

The Jets secondary may be the future of this Jets defense and as of right now...I'm loving it with Rhodes and Revis. Not ALOT of teams can actually say that they have a top 5 CB and a top 5 safety, we have Rhodes and Revis...These two athletes are up and coming stars in terms of playmakers. Rex Ryan has had MCallister and Ed Reed in Baltimore and now he has Revis and Rhodes to work with. I'll take it. Law gotta go but I wont lie, Dwight Lowery made alot of rookie mistakes this year and @ the same time, he really made some nice plays as a rookie CB. All in all, I like what I seen and I really hope this kid can work out.

Revis, Rhodes, Lowery, Harris, Gholston, Pace, Jenkins, even Bryan Thomas...All I know is this... we now have a coach who KNOWS how to coach a 3-4 Defense and Red Ryan actually has some players that can be corner stone players for years to come. The talent is there, I can see it... It's up to the Jets front office to upgrade over players like Elam, Ellis, E.Smith and Coleman.

I agree with you as far as Gholston's talent. I believe Mangini was hoping he would be our DeMarcus Ware. He certainly has his freakish talent. Just don't know about his Football IQ. I don't know if that can be developed as easy

Say what you say, mock me all you want, I could care less. As a sports fan, if you cant believe or atleast get excited for your team...Then why even bother being a sports fan? You should go root for a Nascar driver or something like that and watch his car make left turn after left turn...

You actually took the time to knock my 1st post since the Jets were eliminated? Let me guess, your one of those fans who feel the Jets will NEVER win it all only because we haven't won it all since 69.

Maybe your one of those fans who honestly feel that the AFC's leading rusher in Thomas Jones is "overrated". One things for sure, as a sports fan, I'm glad that I can say that I see between the lines. Do you? I've been a sports fan my whole life and I know anything can happen in sports...Just go ask those Tampa Bay Rays.

I can also see Talent when I see talent...I feel (My belief) that Strong D's Win Championships in the NFL.

Revis is a top 5 corner
Rhodes is a top 5 Safety
Lowery will be a 2nd year corner with experience
Harris is a great 3-4 MLB
Kris Jenkins has always been known as a top 5 DT
Calvin Pace is a solid fit for just about any 3-4 Defense

Thats 6 players that Rex Ryan has to work with, 6 players that all have the ability to make huge plays for years to come...What cant you see in that? Do you even understand the meaning of a Defense with talent and potential? Thats 6 starters on the defensive side of the ball out of 11...

When did I ever say anything about SB? Let me know...You were the 1st to talk about a SB in this thread. Did you not see where I said "It's up to the Jets front office to upgrade over players like Elam, Ellis, E.Smith and Coleman"

When did I include players like "Elam, Ellis, Coleman, Barton" in my "SB Dreams"

    Let me know

You know what? I mock you because you are so easily mockable. You know what? I am one of the more optimistic posters on this site. You know what? I don't believe Thomas Jones is overrated at all, he is an average back nothing more nothing less & I think that is just about how he is perceived. You know what? I don't think Rhodes is a top 5 safety but do think he has the potential to be one with this CS. You know what? Harris is not a great MLB yet, again has the potential to become one but is not yet. You know what? When you say that you could care less that means that you could care less so you do care at least a little bit. You know what? I am optimistic about the CS and feel the Jets are headed in the right direction.
