it was a bad combination: a crap offensive line and WRs who would have trouble shaking a barber pole in man to man coverage. But my gripe with him is that he seemed a little inaccurate. It could have been a by product of the rush. He also did not seem to have a lot of touch.
yeah in that Baltimore game when he hit J-mac in the hands twice to win the game and he dropped it both times it was clearly Clemens fault.
Why would you even want to defend him? He is 6'2" and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with a bazooka. Is that what you really want for your QB?
Don, he's barely played in the NFL. When he did play he had one of the worst offenses I've ever seen around him. An offensive line that couldn't block and recievers that shouldn't even be in the NFL. No one knows what we have with Clemens. We saw against Baltimore that made plenty of great throws right on the money. He may be a bust but we don't have a large enough sample size to make that decision. We know he has a great arm, we know he's athletic, we know he's below average height for an NFL qb. What I'm saying is let him or Ratliff play. If we never let our young qb's play then it's useless to keep drafting them.
It was enough for the Jets to go out and get Favre. If Favre doesn't come back this year Tannenbaum has already indicated they will either sign a FA, make a trade or get somebody in the draft (he said that on WFAN on Wednesday). That should be enough to tell you that they don't think Clemens will ever be their QB.
Wait, so you're telling me that Clemens did nothing all game out of a pro-style offense, but when we reverted to the spread, he did great? He's never run the spread before! If only we had a spread QB on the roster who actually learned to do something (even if only against backups) in a pro-style offense!
If Favre doesn't come back, I would give Ratliff every chance to win the job...If Favre comes back Clemens may get cut...
If Favre doesn't come back I would be willing to trade for Anderson as long as it didn't take more than a 4th to get him. After all, he got benched. His contract was only for 3 years which means he only has 2 left. For a 4th I would give him a shot.
Except that is what happened in that game. It fits, though, because supposedly Schottenheimer is a spread man himself.
If anyone noticed , we were using an offense that was very similar to the way teams were playing us down the strecht. Quick striking , but down feild. The ravens in a prevent couldnt do anything against it. Rock hands should have enever been on the field.
It's amazing how many people are willing to give some loser the position (Clemens, Favre, Leftwich) but can't stand Vick. We may not be able to get him, but he is way more talented than any of these guys that you mention. Leftwich has done nothing accept lose his starting job. He is slow and he has a long windup. His release point is too high and that is why many of his balls are over his receivers head. He is not the most accurate and having him you better have the best running game in the league. We don't have that. I'll take Garcia and check into Anderson from the Browns. They have to make some kind of decision on their QB situation
Garcia is as washed up as Farve and Anderson reeks of one hit wonder. Rebuild the rest of the team see what we have in Clemens and Ratliff and Get a Qb in the 2010 Draft if Necessary or Draft Sanchez if he slips to the second round.
As sad as it sounds he is prob the best option out there. In other words We need to start looking at the Draft in 2010 for our Future Qb if he is not on the team already.
He's the best option out there? For what? Isn't the NFL going to suspend him as well? The NFL would probably do anything to keep Vick out of the NY market. Not to mention that Vick was never a good passing qb. I would rather have Bubby Brister.
Michael Vick is a running back my friend! I was never a fan of him as a Quarter back. Leftwhich has the strangest throwing mechanics that I have ever seen and Farve is more then likely going to try something to get on the team he originally wanted to go to. Coming to the jets was his way of circumventing Green bay never wanting to trade him within his division. Kellen Clemens showed some flashes, but was under pressure 90 % of the time and got happy feet. Just image watching catchable pass after pass dropped and getting blasted and you too would be hesitant while dancing in the back field. Bring in a veteran and let Kellen go for it and if he fails we have a back up we can lean on or at the very least be a good caretaker with the offense.
