No matter what, we are sitting pretty at 17. We will get a quality player no matter what. You got Jackson at DE, Rey Maulaluga for LB, or Jeremy Maclin at WR. Every single one of those players we need and one of them can drop to us if that is our choice. And as far as QB is concerned, I want Vick. Leftwich has never won anything where Vick has taken sub par Falcons teams to the playoffs and a Championship game. None of the guys you are talking about have done what Vick has done, and he should come cheaper than some of you guys might think. We would have the best Wild-Cat Offensive option in the league.
I think looking at who is projected to be available, I'd think the Jets should be able to get at least one of Maulaluga, Laurinaitis or Tyson Jackson. And I'd be happy with that.
Michael Vick is the least realistic option ever. Byron Leftwich had absolute garbage around him in Jacksonville. No running game, no receivers, no offensive line. His main problem was staying healthy.
Leftwich is a deer in head-lights. He is a joke as our starter. He can't move as well as Favre. You can't win with that. Why is Vick a reach
just like every year our defensive front seven is a major need going into the off season..... with CB and OT bringing up the rear. the disappearance of VG this year has added to the drawing board and the jets have to be a player in FA for an OLB. jil
I dont think Jackson is a need at this very moment...however if Ellis gets traded then I could see that being a possibility. Also Jackson is not a good pass rushing DE his strength is against the run. Thats why I say its not our most pressing issue because chances are there will not be a 3-4 type DE with pass rushing skills at that pick. Thats why I say we have more pressing issues to address
I agree the Jackson is probably not going to be a double digit sack guy, but he is definitely an upgrade over Kenyon Coleman, and with Ellis getting up there, DE is just going to become a huge need of ours if we don't address it this offseason.
I don't know maybe because he's in jail and he's no longer in the NFL? A deer in headlights? He's hasn't had a steady offensive line in his career. Before he got injured in 2005, he threw 15 TDs and 5 INTs. He was 8-3 as a starter that year. Byron Leftwich will be more experienced than any QB on our roster if Favre leaves...
I wouldn't mind Leftwich, he's a statue but our line played pretty well this past season, and we shouldn't be throwing it too much anyway
He will be released by Late April I believe, and he is still the best prospect to come along since the QB positioned has been invented
Talent wise, there is no other. That is what I am saying. It is worth a shot. If it doesn't work, then fine, but he has the skill set better than any of those QB's mentioned
I would take Leftwich to come on and compete with Ratty and Clemens. You could do a lot worse then him. I see Tannenbaum/Rex addressing the secondary in free agency and then using the first two picks of the drafts on front 7 players. Ryans defense first goal is to stop the run, once he can do that he forces opponents into 3rd and long and thats where his defense becomes scary.
Yet he took his team as far as Bill Parcells took this team.....A Championship Game... We haven't sniffed one since....
Good point!! On the likely assumption Favre retires, the Jet's have to bring in a Vet QB, relying on Clemens, Ratliff & Ainge to "pilot" the ship is insane. I have no problem in developing Ratliff, but we can't throw all the cards on the table without some insurance of a NFL Vet QB.
