how optimistic of you, he was only wide open with no one between him and the endzone when the ball hit him in the hands.
I cannot disagree more. I think Clemens, by the end of the pre-season, will be out of the NFL. We will have Favre, we will draft a high ranked qb, we will have Ratliff, and Clemens and Ainge will be the odd men out. And once Clemens is gone, I don't think anyone else will take a chance on him, not even Mangini.
^ I thought you said you only posted one day a year. Why are you back? By the way your avatar just keeps getting worse. You fail at creating avatars, but most importantly, you fail at delivering an intelligent post.
1. Yesterday was the first time I posted in a long time. But now I'm baaaack 2. I work hard on creating my avatars, and I think my new one kicks ass. You had a point about my other one, and because of what you said about it, I changed it. So thank you for that. Otherwise, grandpa, drop dead
I could most certainly tell you that we will not draft a high level qb, Tanny went the qb route last year with Rat, and Ainge, trying to find a diamond in the rough. another veteran will be the qb addition for this offseason. Last year was the qb year, Ryan, Flacco, Henne, Brohm. Other then Stafford or Sanchez there isnt anyone there. now if Sanchez could slip past K.C, and S.F then id be all for it, otherwise it'll be Clemens. If Schotty is our OC it will be Clemens
Until there is a decision on Brett, the question at QB is wide open. As far as Clemens getting cut before next season though, I don't see that happening. I believe this is his last year of his contract and I think its only about $530k. He has experience on the field, so unless somehow they get something in return for him, I think he will be here at least one more year.
First of all, Clemens will not be on the Jets next season. And there is nothing that he has done that could convince me otherwise. Second, the Jets have shown that they have no problem trading up (re: Revis, Harris). Being that we already have a solid team, look for them to get one of the better qbs. I think they'll be targetting one of them.
So. your suggesting trading all the way up to at least 3, so we can get mark sanchez, dude the team has other needs then just quarterback, cb,ss, de, ilber, k,p. We have a good chance to draft some depth. Like i said again i have no problem with drafting a high level qb, none at all. But do you think the jets would give the keys to a rookie qb, over a veteran qb like clemens( who has not proven sh!t, but knows the system), 1st round qbs tend to flop more likely then fly. just my honest opinion, take it with a grain of salt. but clemens will be there next season
now id be cool with trading up if coles or bryan thomas was in the package, swapping 1st rd picks and getting rid of dead weight would be fantastic, then draft a punter in 1st round for all i care
The thing is that the Jets do need a Qb for the medium to long term. If Clemens and Ratliff are not going to get it done, then even if Favre comes back, it will likely be for only one season. That seems to argue for using a high pick this off season at Qb. On the other hand, we don't really know that Clemens or Ratliff might not work at Qb. It's a tough call, but given the other needs, given Ryan's likely focus on upgrading the D, and assuming Favre's availability, they can bring him back, do what they can to figure out if Clemens or Ratliff looks the better answer than they do now, and use those picks on positions on the D, plus I would say wideout.
If Rex wants to do the right thing, he holds an open QB competition in camp this coming year against Clemens, Ratliff, and a drafted QB if chosen. All speculation until Favre makes his decisions though.
You can't judge a kid with an offensive line like that, we saw it with Chad this year. who knows he might turn out to be a stud. i think the competetion between him and ratlif might really get them focused. Rex Ryan was exactly what this team and these fans needed.
I agree, give Clemens or Ratliff a chance this summer behind the improved line. I think alot of people will be suprised.
This is my thinking. Clemens has never looked good, Ratliff has looked good during pre-season, and no one has any idea about Ainge. Given all this, whether Favre is playing or not, the Jets will probably draft a qb for the future. I think they're going to move up to get one. If Clemens gets a shot, which I think he may, it's gonna be a quick one. If he doesn't look great, I cannot see the Jets keeping him on the roster, especially if Ratliff looks as good as he did last pre-season. Clemens looked like a good pick at the time. No one can fault the Jets for taking him in the draft. People said he was a sleeper. But I think he's a college qb, and I don't see him in the NFL any longer.
Maybe, but there's been a lot more to evaluate him than just one or two decent pre-season games with him. With regard to Ratliff, that's all we know. Ratliff, a couple seasons ago, had a problem with decision making. In the last pre-season, he looked like he fixed the problem. People keep talking about Clemens, but I think the position of back-up is Ratliff's to lose.
And if Clemens looks great in the pre-season, I still do not believe the Jets make him a starter. If it's not Favre, then the team will go out and get a vet. Unless they choose to draft someone high and throw him out on the field right away, like Flacco. I guess that's a possibility.
