yeah...what he didn't tell you was that you're going to pay 8% a year for 15yrs...he kind of left that part out
Woody may put modern medicine to the test and dig up Johnny Unitas and wheel him out there black cleats and all. I'd almost be scared that if Favre did retire Woody might give up the franchise for a guy like McNabb or somebody else on the decline but a big name. There aren't a whole lotta anybody QB's hitting the market this year.
The entire interview is available at wfan.com... Just in case anyone who reads this thread is curious.
you're getting screwed either way. Not many people can afford to pay it right now, and if they jack up the interest like that, it could end up costing a fortune.
yes. http://www.wfan.com/ left side of website under Mike Francesa, you'll see the Woody Johnson bit.
I didn't just pull these numbers out of thin air...this is what is posted on the Jets stadium website: You can: ? Pay in full ? Pay over 5 years (with 6.5% interest and a 20% deposit) ? Pay over 15 years (with 8% interest and a 20% deposit)
The funny thing is that Johnson said there was also a 10 year option. He said it more than once too but there doesn't appear to be one.
I don't necessarily feel this way, but I'm just wondering... does anyone get the impression that Woody understands he can sell PSLs and make money if he puts a winning product on the field? I/we don't really know the Cowher situation. Even if Woody met with him, there's no guarantee Cowher would have come here anyway, even if Mike T relinquished his position. I don't want to sound like I'm defending Woody because I'm not, but I'm wondering if/when he's finally going to understand that all that matters to us fans is winning.
Did anyone catch the ESPN Radio interview prior to that? Michael Kay kept badgering him about Cowher. He finally said that he didn't pursue Cowher because his reps said 'He's 99 percent not interested in coaching this year, but might be for a lot of money'. Woody said that he didn't know why he should bother to call someone who was 99 percent 'not into coaching the NY Jets', and wanted someone who would 'walk on glass' to become the Jets coach. It was actually a much better interview than the FAN one.
See, that's the type of thing everyone is overlooking. No matter how good the coach (or player) is, why would you want them on your team if their heart really ain't in it?
I was just glad that he FINALLY made a comment about it that wasn't just a smokescreen. Makes total sense to me.
he has a point. rex ryan wanted to be here, and so did his dad. i think this is going to work out well for us. as winston put it, it removes the stench of ' i resign as the hc of the nyj'.
I have to admit, Woody has a point about wanting someone that wants to coach here. Just look at recent history: Parcells - 'retired' when Woody came aboard before of course resurfacing in Dallas and Miami Belichick - left minutes before his introductory press conference Groh - ran away after one year to go to Virginia Herm - there were rumors about him wanting to leave from his second year on (Atlanta was a popular choice) - he wanted more money, etc...then of course his 'true' dream job in KC opened up and he and the Jets mutually agreed to part ways Okay Mangini never really left us but I still need convincing he wasn't a programmed robot.
F*cking BINGO!! Firstly, Cowher never made the call himself. His agent called Tanny to address the rumors in the press regarding the Jets potential interest. The agent then says that Cowher is 99% sure he doesn't want to coach the Jets this year but the agent leaves the door open a crack because there was 1% chance that he might be interested if Woody threw a ridiculous amount of money at him to take the job. Woody said he had no interest in hiring anybody whose only real motivation would be money and I agree 1000% percent. Kay, who has become an unadulterated twit since he quit drinking, was completely unable to grasp the obvious logic behind Woody's position. Woody said he never called Cowher because 1.) Cowher never called him because if he had, he would have promptly returned the call regardless of where he was and 2.) the agent essentially told him everything he needed to hear to fully disqualify Cowher as a potential HC candidate. I can promise you this. Every Woody naysayer and Rex doubter will be gagging on enormous slabs of humble pie after Ryan demonstrates why he was the best choice for this job and establishes himself as an elite head coach. Start deleting your negative posts now.........because I for one will be ramming them down your pencil-necked throats when the results come in.
I would never delete any of my posts, and if Woody proved me wrong, I would readily admit it. But I doubt he will, because he can't get out of his own way. As far you you ramming anything anywhere, I'd leave that to the warm watermelon you have hidden in the garage.
Might as well say that he doesn't care about money. Both have about the same level of believability...
that's awful. So either come up with a ton of money during a time when everyone is having financial problems, or pay "only" 20% while we rape you with high interest. Considering how disgusting they're being with the PSLs, they could've at least made the interest 2 or 3% to be reasonable. I would give up my seats, if I had them. They're forcing you to pay for licenses which aren't licenses at all. They just allow you to buy seats for Jets games. You don't have a right to the seat for other events. These are people who have been season ticket holders for years, and many of them were not happy with the terrible stadium choices the Jets made. Woody was talking on the radio about how it's embarrassing to play in Giants Stadium. I agree. So why didn't you find a way to build a stadium in Queens? Now you're still in Giants Stadium, you're still not in New York, and you're raping your fans.
