If Rey Mauluga (he could legit fall), Mark Sanchez, Aaron Curry and Malcolm Jenkins are all of the board by our pick I would want to trade down to the bottom of the first or the top of the 2nd and pick up an additional 2nd/3rd. We can grab a top CB and WR with the first two picks, and focus the rest on ILB, DE, S, and a senior QB. Or we can trade down and take Josh Freeman.

As I said in the Percy Harvin thread, he is not a player we would be looking at. We will for sure be going defense in the first, with the slight exception being Sanchez (doubtful) or a falling Stafford (more doubtful). Harvin is not a player that would be in Ryan's offense. He would like some big, guarenteed catch recievers not the home run hitter style.

I am starting to agree with Tyson Jackson, Vontae Davis, either top QB or any other guy Ryan feels can be a monster

Laurinatis and Maulaga are not the guys we need because we have Harris, Spikes is not around and we can wait till the mid rounds to find another guy with this skillset and hope he develops

Why not Rey Maualuga? We have a huge hole at inside linebacker if we don't bring one in through free agency or the draft. Barton will most likely be let go.

Maualuga would Rex Ryan's defense an identity. He can change the game with a huge hit. We also have no true leaders in our linebacking corps.

Apparently, the Jets are looking at Larry English - he would give the Jets another pass rusher, and we could use Calvin Pace inside more.

The problem with our linebackers is that they can't cover...Maualuga isn't the best in coverage, but he makes plays.

Hopefully Ryan's scheme will allow our safeties to do more in the middle of the field.

  6. The only thing I dont like about Mayock is that he has a habit of choosing 1 or 2 prospects that he blindly loves and 1 or 2 prospects that he blindly hates...and sometimes I think it's for ratings and for a reaction. Otherwise he knows his crap

I like his hard hitting, but his size at MLB will be a reduction in speed, which I think will hurt him at the NFL level. Especially as right now we have a grinder in the middle with Harris, although Harris does not seem to have the high level of intensity as the two upcoming MLB prospects. I do not think that Maulaga will have big play potential in the NFL

I do like him as a leader, but I see the same traits in Laurinitis, they also have great intensity but I wan't at least one guy that can stay with coverage for at least 10 yds, which we do not have right now.

There is many more picks I would be unhappy with, but these guys don't have the skillset I would want

I think Harris and Maulaga could make a great inside duo. Haris could lose some of his bulk and play the weak side role. Maulaga becomes the stouter thumper in the middle. I would not hate it if we brought in a guy with his attitude and skills.

First off I couldn't agree more with those of you that don't want Harvin. We already have one guy with game-breaking speed and we can't get him the ball enough to why do we need another? We also have Brad Smith who has game-changing potential, but we can't use him properly or enough. Basically what I'm saying is, the only we go offense in the first round is if one of the QBs fall, or if we reach bigtime for Britt, DHB or a possession WR, which I do not think is likely with Rex at the helm. We will definitely take a physical guy on the defensive side of the ball. I like Tyson Jackson, Rey Malauga, or a corner like Vontae Davis, Alphonso Smith or Darius Butler.

It scares me that we will not have a cover LB if we take Maulaga, hopefully a new sheme would help that but if we want to blitz Rhodes we need someone to play coverage

Harris is quite slow and does not have very good footwork, Maulaga possibly could be a better version of Harris but more leadership and more intensity but again we would still only have two thumpers

All I know is if for some reason Rey Maualuga is still on the board when we're up..They better take Him. I'm sure he can cover as a LB. TP43 (pitt) played LB too & he totally reminds me of Him...TAKE HIM!!

Precisely. The man is out of tune with the football universe and makes his mocks not based on what will happen from inside information but what he think he'd like to see. He offers no explanations for his picks and expects to be respected.

lol. Once again, I'm all about Nate Irving, NC State WLB. I think he'll be huge asset and is way under noticed. I believe he declared. He could be around in the 3rd or 4th.

If nothing he could be a great depth player.
